Followed your directions for installing aspi, did it twice and got the same result:
Results for aspi check:

wnaspi32.dll version 4.72(0)
winaspi.dll N/A
aspi32.sys version 4.712(0)
wowpost.exe N/A

Aspi not properly installed.
web site for aspi check did say one could get false negatives, howerer.

Also when installing the aspi software the dos window said "detected win 2000 or nt.
I am running xp home ed.
