Set the preheater to "220C" and let it heat up for at least 5 minutes. You want to get the board to about 200F. You'll actually smart smelling the flux when it gets hot enough (it smells like nail polish). I use a digital infared temp gun to verify the board temps so i know 5 mins is about the right time.

Now you want to hold "300C" for about 30 seconds, when the 30 seconds are up slowly lower the temps to about "220C" then you can hold the down arrow till you're back at "90C".

Let the machine idle at 90C for a minute and then turn it off. You want to let the board cool for about 20 minutes. I usually wait 10 minutes then move the nozzle up so it cools down a little quicker.

I've gone as high as 380 for 30 seconds before and have had luck. That's not standard. I only go higher when a reflow doesn't work the first time. And it's always been on Xenons. Normally 350~360 does the trick.

I read somewhere that removing the dvd drive can solve the rrod in cases where there is a 0102 error code, if a fan is placed on the GPU heatsink. Seen as the dvd wouldn't be needed for a jtagged console, removing it could significantly reduce the chances of a future rrod, especially with Xenon models. Simply removing the dvd drive is a lot easier and less riskier than doing the x-clamp fix in the case of a 0102 console. So what do you guys think about that?
