Sounds like it's running too hot. A reflow with flux should fix the problem.

It's pretty funny the other day i was using my big xbox screwdriver to tighten the gpu nozzle and snap, broke off the nut that was welded on there. My brother works for a steel company and is a certified welder so tonight i went to his house and asked him to fix it.

I'm really suprised he didn't blow through the metal because it's so thin. Anyway here's a picture of it, that sucker is never comming off again.

mine did the same thing, hell i go ghetto and use electrical tape to hold in place, doesnt even melt lol

I have been using that flow station since I was taking expoxy off of Wiis...it is a fantastic station and the iron is also supurb. The iron is an actual top notch ceramic iron and it has that helpful vacuum thing. However, what the heck is that huge Silver thing?

Flux Flux Flux Flux Flux Flux

That's the magic word. I don't see too many people mentioning that they're using it, but it too makes a world of difference.

Just like using a soldering iron, sure.. you can solder without flux, but those who have and then used flux know it's like night and day.

The same will hold true with reflowing. You can reflow and get the console working, but using flux will give you a much higher quality reflow.

Yeah, i tell everyone flux makes a world of difference. I've even been using kester 951 for removing dc jacks on laptop motherboards. Everything comes out clean and i can get the dc jack off in one piece. Before i was using rosin flux but this seems to do a better job without making a mess. I don't really like the smell of the kester but i can deal with it.

I took a picture of how clean it turned out.

It bubbled the circuitboard a tinybit but all the pads were intact and the laptop works. Gotta love 11 pin dc jacks.

figured i would throw this update in here. but getting a new machine here in the few weeks. the auyoe has worked out well for me. only had a few consoles that wouldnt work afterwards. however, i want to get into reballing and ps3 repairs as well, and with the auyoe you cant really do a ps3 since the chips are larger. so heres the new machine i will be getting:

HERE

cant wait until i get it in to try some lifts and what-not.
