@sperry72
Try the steps over again and make sure you follow each step.
@fripz
IOS Downgrader should run. Since your having issues with HBC recognizing your SD Card I suggest reformatting it (FAT 32) then add the files to it again. If that doesn't work then try reinstalling the HBC.
@long_tom1
The Loaders should not matter if they are installed. Maybe it is a media issue. Just because your Wii plays it doesn't mean his will. Also make sure there are NO region hacks enabled in Preloader .29. This can interfere with the hacks that the 3.2 firmware downgrader installed.
@fripz
Make sure there are no GameCube Controllers or GameCube Memory Cards in the Wii.
@kudissang
DVD-R are the most compatible.
DVD+R can work for some (try booktyping to DVD-ROM)
DVD+RW hardly ever work for users.
So use DVD-R.
Burn with IMGBurn at 4X or half the rated speed of the media.

I have no region hacks enabled in preloader.29 and I'm on firmware 4.0E with cioscorp installed done the same to both wii's one plays GhostBusters no bother and the other just hangs on the wiimote screen tried different media and it makes no difference don't understand as both will play the new indiana jones and mysimms racing which are supposed to be the same as ghost busters. Any Ideas would be appreciated

I just followed this guide. I am able to use the features. I have come to find out that i can not select the tv resolution to 480p. Is this something with the way its set up?
Can i change it to 480p?

Hello everyone,
Let me start off by saying a word of thanks to you larrylje and every single person that worked on this project, because after reading and watching a lot of articles and videos, i have finally come to the most comprehensive,newly written and fully detailed article on how to do this whole SoftMod thing, with that,i now have a clear view on how to deal with my Wii and hopefully not brick it!
So again, thank you.
Of course, one has to be sure before he acts, I'm still not sure about the consequences of Soft modding my Wii, for instance, i heard there is an app called Backup Loader which allows you to run backup games on your Wii, is it true that this App reads videos from games in a slow way that may result in choppiness?
Another thing that has been through my mind is this, I'm currently running my Wii on version 3.4E, do you suggest i keep it that way and use Bannerbomb directly or should i update to 4.0 like you said?
And lastly, let's say i did all of the guides correctly and everything went smooth, what happens when a new Wii game gets released and that game forces the user to an Update? I just heard that Super Mario Galaxy does that and it could cripple all the Softmodding and the system itself.
Peace,
ZeroCast
I play games for a living.

You don't need to do IOS Downgrader.
You probably don't need to do the Region Changer step but I would recommend doing it. Make sure you have a fresh start before upgrading.

If you do Step 2 it should remove any previous cIOSCorp etc. etc. from your system. Just reinstall it after you update to 4.0 firmware following the steps in the guide.
I just recommend this to avoid possible conflict issues after updating to 4.0 firmware.
I tried updating to 4.0 using the SoftMii guide and I could never get rid of the System files corrupt error (allot of others had the same issue). Following the steps I provided in this guide it cleared all the issues I had up including the Files are corrupt error.

Install BootMii and backup your NAND if your worried about bricking.
I have done this on 5 systems within the past week and have yet had an issue.

ok 2 questions, 1: what do you mean by making sure my pc can see it? if you mean when I put the card in the pc theres a new file called nand.bin then yes, also is nand backup and restore like system restore on the pc, IE if i make some changes to my wii software now or I try this hack, and maybe it does not work with all the games that it did before, could I restore my nand and everything would be back the way it was before I tried this hack?

Yes that's what I mean. That you see a nand.bin
And if you restore from your nand then yes everything will be back to the way it was before including safe files.
If you made your nand backup today and then tomorrow you bought a game and then beat it next week and then the week after you brixed your Wii then if you were to restore it with the nand that you made today you wouldn't have a save file from beating the game that you bought tomorrow.
If that makes sense :D
I still wouldn't brick my Wii for fun though.
Supposedly this person had a "grand ol' time" bricking their Wii.

yeah I udnerstood that lol. the reason I ask is right now MY wii is playing all the games including the newer ones that seem to be causing alot of problems for lots of people, Indiana, ghostbusters, Mysims racer to mention a few, so if I do this and then they no longer work on mine then I would like to be able to restore it to the way it was before this hack

Yeah that should work. I would still try other stuff if I was just trying to get a game to work before restoring from the nand backup.
Usually for getting the newer games to work people just have to find the right combination of IOS, cIOS, and Loader.
