and for me to get the games to work, I had to update to IOS38 Rev13b and using it along with NeoGamma, but doing this hack will change the Rev13b?? so in theory those games might not work after doing this hack?

Looks like i need to do this with one question.
I have a NON-SOFTMODDED WII (3.4E), is it a must to update to 4.0 or can i do this Bannerbomb guide and then use the guide on this page?
I play games for a living.

Rerun all the steps again and everything seems to be working. Both Indy and Ghostbusters ran from disc channel.

Oct 23rd 3.3 and above firmware has blocked cIOS and WAD files from being installed. You need to do a few extra steps in order to make your system vulnerable again.
So update to 4.0 and follow this softmod guide HERE before performing the steps in this guide.

I followed the guide and everything went well until STEP 4:
now I have 4.0 firmware, but Homebrew Channel is not working. It just gives a black screen.
Any ideas? I have WAD Manager 1.3 and wiigator3 installed and working.
(I couldn't do a NAND backup because no GC controller..)

ok, I have been using Gamma for a long time with hbc, but as you know new game(like indiana jones) will no longer work with it. So I try rev13A, install it correctly and did not work for the game.
I am now trying to do this setup, everything went well up to the preloader wich is a important step but I have the same problem as many; my hacks.ini cannot be found. I did put it in my sd root, rename it hacks.ini but...nothing. I saw in other forum that you need to rename it a certain way, with a space or something...I have no ideas what that is could you help???
Edit: Perfect, perfect, perfect, I did rename the file "hacks" instead of "hacks.ini" and it works. The rest went well and does work. Thanks

Try renaming the hack.ini file to just hacks (drop the .ini extension) see if that works.

Thank you for the tip. I found a "HBC beta 8.wad" installed it, worked ok, then upgraded HBC via popup. All good :)
edit: next problem: installing CIOS60BF.WAD gives and error on content #8, ERROR! (ret = -1022).
I uninstalled the wad and tried to reinstall, still the same error.. now it's uninstalled again. Ideas?
Google gave me some answers: but should I just ignore the message and exit to homebrew channel as in the guide..
- "Sounds like your missing a cIOS and/or IOS from downgrading."
- "You will also get the 1022 error if you are trying to install a wad that has allready been installed."

Thank you larrylje for your helpful guide, however i am having some problems and hope you can help me. at the point where i am runnning preloader .29, the installation is succesful but when i click systemmenu hacks it says "couldn't find "hacks.ini" in FAT or NAND." I have purchaced my wii in canada so i used ntsc and renamed to hacks.ini and put it in the root of my sd card with the other three folders. i have tried both pal and ntsc howver only ntsc will boot after installation. all other previous installations have been succesful. i dont know where to go from here and any help is appreciated.
P.S. my sd card is FAT32

copy all your files from your SD card and then format it as FAT and then copy all the files back on again and try again

Yep, cioscorp installed without errors. So I tried my luck and ignored the error message. Restarted Wii. Got the system error message. Restarted again holding reset -> black screen -> at least I have some spare parts now

I have no idea why if you followed the steps.

Used the semi-brick fix updated to 4.0 & ran through the whole thing again & everything is now working properly ... discs boot from the disc channel etc no problems, did another one this afternoon, works fine ...

I've tried numerous times for the Preloader, but nothing's working. Formatted as FAT, and FAT32. I remember seeing a post bout not using the windows formatter but now I can't seem to find it again. It's not recognizing the hacks.ini and this is the only SD Card I have. Lame?? Any ideas?? I have everything copied exactly as it should be, and structure in tact. Even downloaded the .rar several times to justify the d/l didn't corrupt.
EDIT: Nvm, renamed it to hacks with no .ini and it works apparently even though I had a hacks.ini, hacks, and NTSC_u_hacks all in the root oh well at least it's working :D
