so is this right,
i forward port 21 on mates router, then from my network i can access the dm500 in DBedit with x.x.x.x:x.x.x.x ie mates router address:dm500 address
if this is the case is it all right to turn off DHCP on his client box as i know he messes aroun with stuff and would often have his box unpluged

in dreamboxedit under the 'options' tab you specify the 'ip address of dreambox' as the external ip address that your friend has (got from whatismyip). all other http/ftp settings by default are correct. The only other issue is then whether the box is a dm500 (enigma1 box) or dm800 (enigma2 box). If it is a dm500 you click on the 'satellite receiver' button at the bottpm of the screen else you click on the 'new enigma2 settings' button and then click 'save'. Then click the ftp button (all fields should be properly filled in), select the 'local directory' where the bouquets are stored and press tab 'send files to dreambox'. Make sure that 'auto-reload settings enigma2' is not ticked if it is a dm500. If it is a dm800 then this box should be ticked. Once the send is complete then press 'reload settings on dreambox' and you're finished

fint,
i,ve been unable to connect to any of my clients, i've followed your instructions (dm500)and no joy. First, do i have to port forward the clients router? 2 i'm taking the clients ip from CCcam server, i'm assuming they're right. as i write i'm thinking port 21.....
fint, when you answer me, don't assume i know anything.
thankyou

clients ip from cccaminfo is correct. client needs to port forward port 21 on their router to the internal ip address of their dreambox. for exmple if they have a dm500 running pli image, or gemini image you need to go to network settings and get the ip address of their dreambox. it will look like 192.168.x.x. This is the ip address you must forward port 21 on the client router to

on dyndns you enter a hostname called for example shesen.junior.org. Then on your dreambox you update this hostname using the inadyn plugin. So this updates your ip address to the world. Then when you give out a cline it will read
c: shesen.junior.org port username password no
The port number is the number that clients come in on and can be most any number (say 12345). So on your router you then port forward port 12345 to the internal address of your dreambox which would be something like 192.168.x.x. And thats it. Now your clients can connect to you

hi guys,
after getting the box up and running i have had a few sprious things happen or could be normal to the experts!!

the only way it is possible for someone to access your box externally is if you open port 21 on your router to allow this to happen. port 21 should never be left open at any time and as an extra precaution you should change the password of the dreambox. this is done by opening a command prompt on your computer, then telnet to your dreambox (you need to know the internal ip address of your dreambox, it will look like 192.168.1.x) so or example
telnet 192.168.1.2
put in root for username
put in dreambox for password
now you get a prompt
type passwd and hit return
enter you new password
re-enter your new password
and thats it. not if you leave a port on your router open the external user has still to guess your password before they can access your box

i've just explained that. if port 21 is left open i can login to any dreambox and change whatever i want. you cannot see cline using remote. you use tool such as flashfxp to check cccam.cfg and indeed load proper cline into cccam.cfg

In on-line add-ons look for Ppanels/Cccam Ppanel or tuxbox commander. Either of those
add-ons will enable you to scroll thru Cccam/cfg using yellow button on rem-control.
This is the case on Pli-jade image, it may be diff. button on other images.
Ccam Ppanel also shows status of server & client as connected or not
Old test-line would be disabled by server. If you scroll thru Cccam/cfg you will find
c-line which is currently active. It could be on any line but you will know it when you see it. Use FTP to edit c-line & remove 1 digit. Reboot box & channels will not clear
Replace digit on c-line, reboot box & channels will clear

Why do we need to buy clines if we enter our own shy card?
