hi andy yes it is .you will have to connect your box to your router and install cccam 2.1.3 or above and set it as your default cam then the basic pay channels will open .if your friend is also paying for sky movies or sky sports as part of his subscription you will need his sky box boxkey to open those channels.

your friend will also have to connect his box to his router and have cccam installed .then you have to open a port on your router and you have to open a dyndns.com account .i explain all this stuff in my tutorial which you can access by clicking on the last link in my signature area which is near the bottom of my posts .

hi andy i just spent a bit of time updating my tutorial and adding pictures to make it a little easier for people to understand cs .

i would have to say i would normally advise against using sly broadband for cs but its up to the individual.that you are currently sharing a card is good and means you have experience ,so tou shouldnt have any problems .

hi andy you dont have to use port 12000 ,it is the default cs port but you can use any port you like .

normally if you avail of a sly offer such as a free installation (a new free dish and box installed)with a 12 month contract you would probably have to by contract have a phone line connected to your box for 12 months .so as such if thats the case sly would know if your card is not in the sly box .but if you bought your sly box new at full price/if you bought your box second hand or have owned your sly box for more than 12 months or even for a few years then your exempt from the sly contract .

so if you availed of a special offer from sly recently or late last year yes your contract probably specifies that your box must be connected to a phone line for 12 months ,but once the 12 months contract is up you can disconnect the phone line . but if youve been paying for 12 months plus and still have your box connected to your phone line you can legaly disconnect the phone line as the contract lasts no more than 12 months .

Hi all, I used to have a Starview (The Box) several years back before the upgrade to N3 kicked in all over Ireland. When that went belly up I didn't keep up with the box seen as it was initially all doom and gloom. For the past two years I have a full sly supscription but recently came across this topic page. I have read through some of the pages and am considering buying two DreamBox 500s, one for myself and another for my brother.
I have a question to ask, which is probably stupid and from what I have read already the answer is Yes but I'm going to ask it anyway.
As both of us have sly dishes installed basically I could setup two of these boxes to replace our exisitng sly boxes so we can share my account?

Yes you can share youre sly pack with youre brother and some other family members
and buddies (share the cost)a little bit of work involed but well worth it.
Have a close read of piopats tut on a newbies guide to cs.
just beware the 500s is not a HD box (800 is)but a great box to start with.

I can see Open PLI and other menu options but screen continue to flicker! What is the reason and how I can stop it? Thanks once again.

I can see "Open PLi and other set-up instructions but flickering would not stop. What is the reason and how I can stop?

hi bob it seems as tho the pli image you used may be corrupt (faulty) ,so i recommend you change the image .you could download the same image but from another source or you could use a different image. you can download a good image called nabilo maxvar v8 from the first link of my signature area (my signature area is near the bottom of my posts),but whatever image you use i suggest you perform a flash erase .to perform a flash erase when you open dreamup to flash the box look on the right where you see flash (look just above ) and you will see flash erase (click on it )performing a flash erase only takes a few seconds and after that flash your box as normal .

by the way thank you for your kind words .

Can someone help me with this, please!

I've downloaded a new bouquet and I've downloaded dreamboxedite. I extract the bouquet so I have the file. I open up dreamboxedit, I go to FTP, I have the box I.P. address in, I browse to the file then I get this message saying it doesn't contain a services or lamdbe file so it won't let me do it.

what box do you have ? is it enigma 1 or enigma 2 ? .when you open dreambox edit you should see this

or this depending on what version of dreamboxedit your using

you will see 4 options terrestrial reciever/cable reciever /satellite reciever /enigma2 ,if your box is a dm800 its enigma2 so you need to choose the enigma2 option but if you chose satellite reciever this may stop dreambox edit from working .so check that you have the correct setting .

i assume as you have cccam installed that you installed it via the addons panel (if so that would indicate your box is connecting to the internet as it should be ),if thats the case i suggest you double check that you have set cccam as your default cam as if you havent the c line wont work.this is usually done via the blue button but it may differ on some images ,you should see some thing like this

where you see default softcam choose the cccam version you installed and press the green button to save and restart cccam.

if thats not the problem use dream control center to double check that you inputted your c line correctly ,the c line must be entered exactly as you were given it .for example
1 C:cardshare.dyndns.org 12000 user pass no is not the same as
1 C:cardshare.dyndns.org 12000 userpass no ,you notice user and pass are have no space between them and all it takes is some thing as little as that and your c line wont work. also ensure there is no # symbol at the start of the c line like this example
1# C:cardshare.dyndns.org 12000 user pass no ,you notice it says 1# that # symbol would stop the line working as a # symbol disables lines in cccam.

if your certain your c line is entered perfectly and that cccam iis set as your default cam then you might consider uninstalling your current version of cccam and installing a different version ,cccam 2.1.3 always works well .

Always on the money, Pio & never tires of posting solutions which you have repeatedly posted. Still feel a knighthood is long overdue. If c-line is sent via e-mail, can't understand why members don't simply delete # symbol & copy/paste c-line. Never hada prob
with c-line when copy/pasting, while manually entering digits the merest asterisk omission or spacing error negates c-line. Like your views on post from far-east members
on alternative site you frequently visit, Pio. Will post link in new thread as don't wish it to be swallowed up in this thread. Keep the faith, Pio'

hi irishtoon i have a sort of guide but its text and no pictures as you cant (or atleast i cant )transfer pictures from dyndns.com .here is a little guide

how to open a port on your router

how to open a port on your router (or portfowarding)
if all you intend to do is use a c line to view channels you dont need to open a port on your router ,and likewise if all you intend to do is share your own card within your own home (internal sharing )you dont need to open a port ,but you do need to open a port if you intend to share with people in other houses this is called external sharing .you will also need to have a dyndns account and hostname which should be the first thing you do ,for now i willl assume you have opened a dyndns account but i will talk about it at the end of this tutorial.

why do you need to open a port ? ,you need to open a port in your router to allow the people you want to share with you to access your box and they can only do so when you have opened a port .

the process of opening a port can differ from router to router ,so to learn how to open a port on your router you need to click on this link hxxp://portforward.com/

one of the first things you will see is a large arrow with port forward on it ,look just under the arrow on the left hand side and you will see router list ,now scroll down the page and you will see a list of routers find your router name and model number and click on it . if your router does not appear on the list you will have to go online and search other sites .

now for this example lets say your router is a netgear dg834g ,so under netgear you click on dg834g ,now you will see an adverstisement and at the top right of screen it will say click here to skip this advertisement (so click there to get rid of the add) now you should see this (of course it will say the name and model of your router )

Welcome to our guide list for the Netgear DG834G. Please select the program you are forwarding ports for from the list below.

If you do not feel like figuring out how to forward ports manually, we have a simple software solution called PFConfig that can forward your ports for you automatically. We offer complete support for our product and will help you get your ports forwarded.

We have Free Software to help you test your port forwards. Our ultimate goal is to have a write up for every hardware router and firewall available and instructions for every application that Internet users have difficulty getting to work through their router or firewall so that you can do simple port forwarding. These guides are provided to help you, but we are in no way responsible for the state of your network. If you encounter any errors in our guides, please let us know by using our Comments page.

If you do not see the program you are forwarding ports for, be sure to visit our Default Guide for this router

now where you see
If you do not see the program you are forwarding ports for, be sure to visit our Default Guide for this router
click on the words default guide .

now you should see this
What is Port Forwarding?

View all Router Screenshots.

To setup port forwarding on this router your computer needs to have a static ip address.
Try our free PF Setup Static IP Address Program which will setup a static ip address for you.

Or you can take alook at our Static IP Address guide to setup a static ip address. When you are finished setting up a static ip address, please come back to this page and enter the ip address you setup in the Static IP Address box below.

and below it will be the instructions and pictures to show you how you open a port on your router ,some times it takes a few trys to get this piece right . so the best thing you can do iis be patient and if the port is not opening at the first attempt go back through the settings and keep going back untill you get it right . now they offer a port checker which i dont like my self i use dyndns port tool here is a link hxxp://www.dyndns.com/support/tools/openport.html
where you see host and port type in your dyndns host name followed by the number of the port you opened and click on send ,if it says your open is open and being blocked its job done ,however as i say if its blocked you will need to go back and check your settings and ensure that the router firewall is set to low .

having opened a port you need to set your computer a static ip address ,here are instructions to do this

hxxp://portforward.com/networking/static-vista.htm (this is for windows vista computers )
hxxp://portforward.com/networking/static-xp.htm (this is for windows xp computers )

as i mentioned earler the first thing to do before opening a port is opening a dyndns account and creating a dyndns host name ,here is a link to dyndns.com hxxp://www.dyndns.com/

where it says free domain name click on dynamic dns service ,click on create free host name . now you will see
hostname (this can be anything you want ) then you will see a box with a little arrow (click on the little arrow and you will see a drop down box with extensions such as dyndns.com or dyndns.org etc etc (you can pick any one you want ) ok so lets say your name is mike and you used that as your hostname and you chose the extension dyndns.org well then your dyndns host name would be mike.dyndns.org .

the next thing you will see is wildcard (ignore this )

the next thing you will see is service type (host with ip address should be set by default and will have a little blue dot )if so you dont need to do any more here .

the next thing you will see is ip address (this is the ip address of your dreambox which must be a static ip address ) to give your dreambox a static ip address just disable dhcp .

the next thing you will see is mail routing (ignore this )

click on add to cart .

now you will be creating your account ,just fill in the blanks user name and password etc ,then put a tick in the box and create your account . when this is done exit back to the first page of dyndns.com .

now click on support ,on the right of the page you will see download now (this is the dyndns updater ,you need this ) so download it to your pc and then open it , you will be asked for some of the info you used to open your dyndns account such as username and password ,once you put in these details it should say synchronising ,and thats it .

sorry i cant provide pictures but if you have questions please ask and ill do my best to answer.

Hi piopat, i have finally got round to registering on her lol. i have followed your CS tutorial from the first page and its excellent and i can share my sly from my dreambox 600 to my openbox s10 in the bedroom. i have used no-ip to create a hostname which is fine and i also have the updater sorted.

I have a few question if you dont mind

in the no-ip updater its refreshing my routers ip address - is this correct as when i try to put my dreambox static ip in there it automatically goes back to the routers ip address again

also to get some friends sharing with me i was wondering if there was a way to test my hostname to see if it works without getting my mate to do this?

and i am only sharing sly uk card which is in my dreambox receiver so how many clients do u think i can share it to before it begins to glitch etc?

can i use my dreambox as a server and also connect to another server with a c line to watch other satellites etc (Can it do both at same time?)

Thanks in advance and thanks for all of the knowledge share on here

"can i use my dreambox as a server and also connect to another server with a c line to watch other satellites etc (Can it do both at same time?)"

if you mean can you use your dreambox as a server and at the same time use a c line the answer is yes ,you just add the c line to cccam.cfg .

" and i am only sharing sly uk card which is in my dreambox receiver so how many clients do u think i can share it to before it begins to glitch etc?"

well ive spoken to people using a dm500s with 20 clients and not having any real problems ,but i wouldnt recommend that many clients but theres no reason you cant have 5 to 10 clients without any problems .

"also to get some friends sharing with me i was wondering if there was a way to test my hostname to see if it works without getting my mate to do this?"
i dont use no ip myself i use dyndns which has a very handy tool to check if the port is open ,but no ip have a simillar tool heres a link
http://www.canyouseeme.org/
heres a link with lots of no ip information which will probably have all the answers you need.
