Maybe you all can help. I have been using DVD shrink w/ Nero and my NU DDW-082 DVD burner now for about 2 months. Yesterday My burner now gives me this error message and few minutes into the burn process.

I have been using Verbatim DVD+R 4.7 GB 1-4x disks all along without any problems. Just to be safe I uninstalled Nero and DVD shrink and reinstalled Nero and the new 3.2 v of DVD shrink still with the same problem

Any help you can give would be great!!!!

Hi,

The first thing I noticed from your log is that DMA isn't enabled for your burner which is certainly a problem. DMA is a high speed transfer mode for your drive that is needed for burning DVDs.

Try this link to enabled DMA:

http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/device/storage/IDE-DMA.mspx

If that doesn't help try the following steps,

Go to Device Manager >

Expand the tree for DVD/CD ROM Drives >

Find the drive in question, right click it and go to Properties >

Under the Driver tab, select Uninstall then OK.

Now reboot and Windows should detect and reinstall the drive.

If that doesn't work try the same steps but uninstall the IDE controller that your drive is on :)

Something is causing errors to make Windows kick your drive out of DMA. Have you tried burning slower? Are you multitasking while trying to burn?

One last thing, could you remove your Nero serial # from the top of log?

I tried everything you suggested and came up with this error message below. I am able to burn at a 6x rate but no longer an 8x. So now I am tying to figure out what changed from my initial ability to burn at an 8x rate. I went in and switched my burn speed to 6x and this worked correctly but when I moved it back to "maximum" I still recieve errors.I appears I am able to remove the Nero serial # which is "1A20-0225-0170-1550-5690-8613*" correct?

Any other ideas as to why this sudden change and/or how to fix it

Oakley050,

You need to remove your serial #. On your posts ... right side, click the icon that looks like a paper (that is the edit function). Edit your serial number from your posts.

Lol! I meant remove the serial # from your post. Otherwise others can use it :)

It appears your burner is still in PIO mode so we need to figure out why.

Since you have Nero, fire up Nero Info Tool and go to the Configuration tab. Can you post which drives are Primary Master, Primary Slave, Secondary Master and so forth? This will help us determine if your drives are set up properly.

I believe the Nu-Tech drives had some problems with the original firmwares so it might be a good idea to upgrade yours. It appears B375 is the newest revision so here's a link to Nutech's site:

http://www.nuniverse.com/1_english/4_support/01_manuals.php?sID=2

I just downloaded it and checked the change log - it's a big one!

Ahh sorry, I understand now lol

Well long story short I am now able to burn at 8x again. The DMA was turned off on the slave drive and I was unable to change out of PIO. Once I updated the firmware this was updated to DMA on automatically

Thanks for all your help!
