I have just purchased an externa LiteOn +_ DVD writer.
I installed it into a usb 2 port. My computer reconizes it. So does my Nero 6 software. I am running a 1400 Mhz with 1 gig of ram. Whwn I open DVD Shrink and click open disk, I select the "I" disk letter that shows the movie in the disk. I get this "DVD Shrink encountered an error and connot continue...Failed to read "I:\".... Incorrect function. I also tried open file icon. Went to the drive and found the Video_TS folder and I received the same message. If anyone can help me it would be most appreciated.

Hello pbatch. :)
Have you tried unchecking "Enable burning with Nero" in DVD Shrink "Edit >> Preferences >> File I/O" menu?
Also, what version of Nero 6 are you using?
Is it the latest one (v6.3.0.20 I think)?

Have you tried updating to 6.3.0.20?
I'm not sure how it would work considering you have an OEM version.
Judging from other posts (in this and other forums), it does look like LiteOne external drives are causing quite a considerable amount of problems. :/

I have updated to the 6.3.0.20 and it didn't help. Before I had the Liteon I purchased a Memorex external and I returned it because it was doing the same thing. I thought maybe it was the Memorex. Thanks for all the responses.

Sorry Xyric, I missed your post. :/
"the output is not quiete a little bit good coz it gives me a little husky with the movie output.. "
I'm affraid I do not understand this sentence.
pbatch, I can only suggest you try and use DVD Decrypter to rip the files first...
http://www.dvdshrink.info/dvd-decrypter.php ... then use DVD Shrink "Open Files".

Thanks for the reply. That is exactly what I am having to do and I can make it work but each time I use DVD Shrink I have to reboot or the next time I bring it up to use it will lock my computer. Again, thanks for all the help.

pbatch have you tried uninstalling then reinstalling shrink? Be sure to reboot after uninstalling before you try to reinstall and reboot after installing before you open it.
