I downloaded the latest version of both DVD shrink it and DVD decrypter.

I am still have the same problems as everyone else. MAybe the store bought one versus the one you rent like from block busters have different protection schems on them?

Anyhow I get that same narrative voice even after ripping with the latest version of DVD shrink it. But my prior email does ask what setting I need to make good RIps.

DVD-decrypter gives me this message when I start it.

Possible RCE protection found

Please select the region of the disks cover/case/box.

So what is wrong ? It looks liek I cannot rip this DVD or what?

RCE protection is a region setting. In the U.S. we have region 1 dvds. I really don't know what all the other regions are.

I had the same on mine. All i did was select Region 1 and it backed up fine. You shouldn't have any problems if you use Scuba Pete's guides.

Scuba Petes Guide?

Were youy able to rip Passion of Christ without getting the RCE message in DVD decryptor?

Is there a link to that guide?

I was under the impression that when this notice occures,RCE region protection setting, all I have to do was change the setting from where ever it was to some other place, and it will encrypt the disc. This is a gray fuzzy area, but it has worked for me withouy any prob...

on the back of the movie case down towards the bottom there should be a little emblem that looks kind of like a square with a little globe in it. In the globe should be a number. That number should be the region of your disc.

Mantle7, Question,

I am a newbie here. Where can I find "Scuba Pete's guides"?

Is it the guides link in this forum? I don't see any references to that title at all anywhere unless I am overlooking it.

Do you have a link please?

Thanks

Passion of the christ worked fine for me!! Used Shrink and decypt. Also look up, see the tab that says GUIDES, also if you read the threads on this forum it says were to find these guides and also to read them first before posting!! I'm a newbie also but most of the questions in this page can be figured out in these guides!!

emunity: when decrypter shows "Possible RCE protection found" you just have to select the same region of your movie(look in the box), and then decrypter rips the movie to your HD.
