Shrink 3 freezes my PC

Hello, while doing the backup process in shrink my PC freezes.And mainly happens towards the end of the back-up process. I have the latest Nvidia drivers. I even reformatted and reloaded Windows XP. Shrink failed on me with SP1 and SP2. What other drivers should i update or what else can I do? Thank you- Firenet

From your description my first thought is it's heat issue.

The encoding process is veru CPU intensive which in turn generates a lot of heat so if you have inadequate cooling things start to freeze or shut down.

I'd suggest checking and cleaning all your fans as well as ensuring that your HSF is working properly.

A good way to determine whether it's a heat issue is to pull the side off your case, point a big fan right into the side of the case and try the encoding process again. If it sails through without freezing then you need to think of adding some better cooling :)

Thanks.

I have a Intel P4 2.4Ghz, 768Megs ram, NVidia GeForce 400 MX 440 with 64 Megs, XP Home Edition, Pioneer 107 DVD Burner, A BIG Cooling Fan inside and of course CPU FAN with Heatsink and Plenty of ventilation. But, i will go ahead take off the side cover and point a fan towards PC to see if problems still exist.Thanks Again-Firenet

You might also consider installing directx 9 if you don't already have it and make sure your java software is up to date. Also remember to close all other programmes before and during the ripping and burning process.
