I also tried coupple of these and stayed with mobiledit, you can keep it with your next phone, supporting roughly 200 of them now is hard to beat and a good chance your next one will work.
Its features are useful and easy to work with.

Try deleting the Motorola USB modem from the device manager and reboot with the phone connected. When the phone is seen as New Hardware, you will get to the point where it asks for the driver. If it does not do that and goes on to install an existing driver automatically, let it finish. After, go into Device Manager, select the USB modem, and under the Driver tab choose to update driver. In that sequence of updating the driver you WILL get the window where you have the option to choose the driver from a specific location.

Good Luck.

get 2.2 full version with update loader here:
http://www.harrythompson.com/files_files/mobilePhoneTools_2%5b2%5...
...then run the live update in the setup tab and update it (check all 4 boxes and wait a long time) and you will have version 3.11 complete!!

For those using the Verizon version of the v265, they have crippled the phone so you are unable to use the Multi Media Center in MPT. I found this link http://www.originofstorms.org/?p=88 which is very helpful in helping you "hack" the phone's software ...and enabling the MMC. The only problems I've had have been with MPT but I've read in this forum that I need to do all updates before opening the software and then plug in my phone.

Good luck!

A good advise to avoid all these messy issues, try a more universal phone tool, e.g. Mobiledit is a well done, allowing full phone management like messaging, backups, contacts organizing and much more.

pewterss, are you trying to install and use Mobile Phone Tools, or Mobiledit? I know nothing about mobiledit. If you are using MPT, then if you upgrade to v3.25b, the driver should be installed. Also, do you have a Verizon Mot v265? Remember after you update your MPT version, to keep updating to the latest version before you open the software and plug in your phone.

driver installs automatically to computer...run device manager from control panel or type devmgmt.msc in the run dialog ...find the usb device for motorola and run the driver update for it...point it to the driver for motorola and that will do it...you should find your fone with mpt after that.
