Ok, I've searched everywhere, to no avail. How can I make an installation CD of mpt and other programs. I have the files on my computer, what is the procedure to burn them when I can get them to install properly on my computer.

If this is posted somewhere, please direct me there,

Thanks

ok.. i think i have read almost everythin on this forum... but my main q is how long does this initializing take?? LOL I am very impatient when waiting for something like that... i usually end up stoping it and starting over, and I just wanted to know what the approx time is, BTW i have a V265 and just updated to whatever the latest version is on the MPT :) I have also done the step by step instructions on the driver installs and uninstalling/reinstalling the prog. :) I just need to know how long it takes to initialize. I've had my USB cord for awhile (bought it for my V60) I just never got the programs to work, and would really like to be able to add ringtones and games :)

well i did the update and hopefully once my phone is "recongnized" i'll see how long it takes, I have had it sit on initializing for 5 or more minutes before the uninstall/reinstall and updates I just did :)

UPDATE: It works YAY my driver was apparently not correct, I re-redid the driver and poof it works, and is initialized :) now I get to learn the program and put some new things on my phone :)
I'd just like to say this forum was a huge help THANX :)

Geedaddy,

Risa was right. YOU ROCK!

it was your post in this thread dated March 3, 2005 at 6:20 that I read and reread and I FINALLY GOT IT TO WORK!!!Yeah!
Thanks also to mossyy for your willingness to help and everyone in here is GREAT!!!

One note tho...I finally figured out it wasn't my firewall that prevented the install, it was my SpySweeper, to protect me from spyware, that was holding back the installations. once i turned that off, it ran like a charm, i finally got my pictures from my phone to my PC and then onto a floppy disk and was able to see them bigger on the PC and delete them from the cellphone to finally free up space for more pictures. Actually now that i see the pictures full sized, the camera phone doesn't take such a bad picture. I also was able to bring onto the phone a new ringtone!! again, thanks to all

only one problem now i noticed..when i disconnect the MPT program, i have trouble bringing it back up again. seems like it locks up and i have to reboot and then turn off spyware again and it's still troublesome to re-run. Any thoughts anyone?

Best Wishes to ALL,
meziggy

Hi,
I'm the new one in these questions. I've got V535. My connection is bluetooth. I've instaled original bluetooth adapter's software - BlueSoleil. But it's very poor. I want MPT 3.11. I've installed it, but nothing happens - the program can't find bluetooth device. There are lots of info about USB connection, but where can I find step-by-step instruction for bluetooth conection?
Help please!

after reading all 8 pages of this, and nothing working, here is my summary and question

first of all, I have a v551 phone and a toshiba m200 laptop with BT built in, so no dongles

1) the 1.23c to 2.16 MPT path only works for people who don't have SP2. With SP2 1.23c does not install, crashes on trying to register certain DLLs.

2) i downloaded 3.11h, it installs fine barring the two errors that everyone experienced. Unfortunately there is no option for Live Update in the Setup menu. Under help there is an "update" menu, but that only brings me to bvrt's website with no info or link to download.
- i thought perhaps windows FW is in the way, but nothing changed when I turned it off
- in the program directory there is a file called liveupdatelauncher.exe. Unfortunately nothing happens when I launch it

i tried to use 3.11, unfortunately it doesn't detect my phone, it tries and tries indefinitely. Notabley it is using BT at least as my phone is showing BT communications

having said all this...i have these questions

1) is there any way to get 1.23c to install with SP2?
2) does anyone have MPT 3.18, 3.19, or 3.23 in an executable?
3) does anyone know why my 3.11 doesn't have Live Update
4) does anyone know how to get v551 to be detected by MPT 3.11 with built in BT adapter

Here is some info to anyone that is having an installation problem w/ the MPT software. For example, it will install 98% and then give you this error:

"Error Number: 0x80040707
Description: DLL funciton call crashed: PbkInstall,GetBookNames

Setup will now terminate."

You're getting this error because of the version of Microsoft Office you're running. It's a very common problem. Here's the work around for it...

During the MPT 1.23 install when the Error message pops up,

1) Hit CTRL-ALT-DEL to bring up task manager.

2) End Task on the Application (This will prevent the setup routine from uninstalling the app and removing the registry settings).

3) Now install the 2.16 update, start Mobile Phone Tools and follow the instructions to install your phone. Once everything is installed, goto Setup and do the Live update to get the latest version

...if that doesn't work then uninstall Microsoft Office, install MPT, then reinstall Office.

aha!! THANK YOU!!

I followed your instructions and I was able to install 1.23c, update to 2.16 and then to 3.23.

Now, because I use a built-in BT adapter the next step is probably different for everyone

1) use the BT connection manager that came with the PC to associate phone with the laptop. That created a modem entry on COM40
2) when MPT started up pointed it to that modem
3) it autodetected the phone (V551)

i'll let you know how everything else goes

THANX AGAIN!

ok, next question

calendar and contacts sync works great

how do i get pictures and video off the phone? When I installed 3.11 on its own i had other apps with it which seemed to allow me to do that (seemed to because i could never get the phone connected).

now I don't see any options for that...

Hey everyone, i downloaded the file 3.14 or woteva and i found it was corrupt i downloaded it a number of times, but it was still corrupt so i am trying to up date a lower version, or wot eva. But now, i would like to no if i need to have a usb driveer for my motorola c650 to wokr with mobile phone tools.
Thanx

AND, i dont believ how much trouble this realli is, you no i dont think it would have been too much trouble for motorola to give us all a copy of the software, even if we paid an extra twenty bucks, but at leatas we'd get it with the phone, this is getting ridiculas....

(sorri for mi bad spelling)

GeeDaddy, i downloaded those files you posted, but I cant unzip the 1.23 version. It keeps telling me theres an error in the archive?
Its this link i got it from: http://coma.fsb.hr/motorola/files/Motorola_MobilePhoneTools_1.23c_EN.zip

Then I downloaded another copy of it from http://www.free.cz/motorola/
and that was unzippable, but some "fatal error" occured during the installation and i couldnt install it. over and again.

And those are the only two working links ive found on here.

Can anyone give me a non-corrupt file so I can try and install it following the procedure Geedaddy posted?

oh actually youre right
sorry i didnt notice

however i have another problem that i just noticed now

GeeDaddys v3.11 version RAR archive seems to be corrupt too? It extracts but there seems to be nothing in the extracted folder?

Its strange, I never had problems extracting files with power archiver before, so i doubt its me?

my recommendation is don't even bother with 3.11. Follow the path of 1.23 to 2.16 and then do live update which will bring you to 3.23

TinaToth,
I would go the way of 1.23 then upgrade with 2.16 then live update like craftO suggested. One suggestion though to you and all who are using XP. After downloading make sure you hold your cursor over the file right-click and choose "extract all" when using MPT zip's. Then install from where the files were extracted to. For some reason XP has problems doing it on the fly with this program. Using this method hopefully there will be no more corruption issues. Good Luck!

I have also searched to no avail for info on re-installing MPT from the files on my computer. The "Live Update" appeared to leave some installation/update files in a "Live Update" directory, but I can't figure out how to execute an install/update using these. I also want to burn these to a CD for safe keeping in case the Live Update feature ever disappears.

Also, is there an easier way to update to MPT 3.23 without rebooting 8 times?

you only really need to reboot the 8th time...
