i've been saving a few dvd's to my hard drive to burn at a later date. once i'm ready to burn, can i still use dvd shrink to do things like remove subtitles, remove special features, and things like that WITHOUT the dvd in the drive before i burn? i've been trying to and if there is a way i can't figure it out. should i just select what i want and don't want before saving it to my hard drive? i've tried clicking on "open files" at the top of shrink and then selecting the folder where i save my movies but i always get an error saying "The system cannot find the file specified."
any ideas?

If you get that message then you didn't rip in File mode.

In Shrink, click File then open disc image.

If that doesn't work, you need to re-rip the dvd in either ISO or File mode.

come on now guys, be nice!
in decrypter i always use iso and either read or write depending on what i'm doing.
but i just tried what u suggested flip218 about opening shrink then click file and open disc image. i had tried that before but i just wasn't sure exactly what to do once there. but i do now. they don't call us newbies for nothing!
but now i have a new problem, i have a new dvd and i tried to click on "open disc" in shrink (u know the thing u guys were laughing about!) but it says "D:\[NO DISC]" what's up w/ that? other than that, i kinda know what's going on for now.

It's not that I'm laughing, I was more stating what's the point? DVD Shrink is more than capable of ripping. In some cases it will not rip, so we use DVD Decrytper to rip, then run it through Shrink.

So it being a first ... why would you open the disc with Shrink then rip with Decrypter. If you launch DVD Decrypter, you just open the disc by browsing for the dvd.

Can you see the disc in my computer?

Some people like ripping with DVD Decrypter using the "File", "Mode", Since DVD Decrypter doesn't put all the files in the proper folder, you'll have to create a folder named VIDEO_TS (like that, all in CAPS and place all the files in that. Then open DVD Shrink go to Open File", - after allowing DVD Shrink to load up the image, just process it as usual then burn to disc using your burner of choice.

HINT: If you are going to burn with DVD Decrypter, DON'T FORGET TO - go back to DVD Decrypter after ripping, to reset the "Mode" from "File" to "ISO - Write".

IMPORTANT: In DVD Decrypter, go to "Tools, Settings", go to the "I/O" tab and in the bottom right-hand side "tick" "Ignore Read Errors," this is an excellent setting for dealing with scratched disc which may cause ripping problems.

Cheers,

Pete

This the one time I will have to disagree with you. You do not have to create a folder named VIDEO_TS shrink will open them files in any folder as long as they are all together. Sorry I didnt mean to bust you out :-) please forgive me ;-)
