I've been using dvd shrink 3.2 for the last 3 months now, all of a sudden when i go to open a dvd in shrink it comes up with "Failed to initialize ASPI device", what gives how can this be fixed?
If you have Nero, run the app called Nero InfoTool. Click on the last tab called ASPI. It will tell you if your ASPI files are corrupt (in red) or not. I had corrupt ASPI files too, and the download from Adaptec wouldn't install. I used the ForceASPI 1.8 batch file to remove and reinstall the ASPI drivers which finally worked.

..The download from Adaptec can be tough to install. Adaptec's aspichk shows mine to have the right versions, but Nero show them to be corrupt. Look at the README.TXT file in the download for insructions on installing and how to tell if you get it right.
..To install find the location of the file "install.bat", then click on Start, select RUN. Open the install.bat file by entering the full location of the file. Mine was "C:\adaptec\aspi\install.bat xp32".
..The xp32 is for my operating system.
..Use x86 for Windows 98/ME/NT/2000
....... xp32 for Windows XP 32-bit
....... xp64 for Windows XP 64-bit.
..Then open aspichk.exe to see if it installed.
A DVD is ASPI device.
..Short for Advanced SCSI Programming Interface, ASPI was developed by Adaptec and is an interface specification for sending commands to a SCSI host adapter. ASPI has become a de facto standard for programmers that need to create drivers that work with all ASPI-compatible SCSI adapters.
