It is possible you just have a bad original of that disk. Have you tried cleaning the disk?
When exactly do you get the error?

I have the same problem with Resident Evil 2 using Decrypter 3.5.1.0. I even tried "Select the Main Movies Files" only.

W 23:08:21 Inserting Dummy Sectors... (LBA: 2259355 - 2259385)

W 23:08:45 Failed to read Sector 2267505 - No Seek Complete
W 23:08:51 Failed to read Sector 2267506 - No Seek Complete
The error starts on VTS_05_1.VOB. This is the second brand new disc right of the package.

Try these settings in Decrypter and see how it works
Set up Decrypter as follows;
It should be version 3.5.1.0.
Go to "Tools", "Settings", set everything to "Default".
Then in the "General" tab change, "Removal Method" from "Normal" to "Aggressive",
in "File Mode", "tick" Remove IFO/BUP PUO's.
" For ripping in the "ISO, Read Mode", "tick" "Remove IFO/BUP PUO's" there also. in the "CSS" tab, under "CSS Cracking Method", choose "Brute Force ~> I/O Key Exchange"
and "On Failure" choose "Yes". .
IMPORTANT: In the "I/O" tab, in the bottom right, "tick" the box which says,"Ignore read errors".
This is an excellent setting for dealing with lightly scratched discs which may cause ripping problems.

Thank you for the help. I tried the setting you suggested with no luck. The error starts at 16,360kb into the process. This is the second brand new disc and I would rule out scratch unless the defect comes from the same DVD Stamper/Replicator that manufactured the disc.

W 00:08:01 Failed to read Sector 2267505 - No Seek Complete
W 00:08:07 Failed to read Sector 2267506 - No Seek Complete
Using DVD Shrink, I get the following message at 1 minute 6 seconds:
DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.
Failed to read ?X:\?
Data error (cyclic redundancy check).
I wonder if anyone is having the same problem starting at "Sector 2267504 - No Seek Complete" just to confirm any anomaly or am I just having a brain glitch.

Hi Everyone,
I haven't tried that DVD yet (I will this week) BUT did anyone check "Unreferenced Materials" probably somewhere around "Title 1" to see if we have an "Idiot Jumper" in there to mess things up ?
Let's see if this will apply -
AFA the Bourne Supremacy, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and one or two others - In "Unreferenced materials" select title 1 menus, there is a "Boy" running (in green shorts too). By checking him out in the "Preview" screen, you can see his outfit too. Sometimes DVD Shrink gets past it sometimes not -
If you don't make it past it then go to that Unreferenced materials select Title 1 menus ? Then go to "Compression" select "Custom Ratio" then select "Still image" then try DVD Shrink again, it should slide right on through, like a hot knife through tender Turkey ?
Give it a try - Meanwhile, I'll see if I can't get it in a bit faster.
SEASONS GREETINGS
Pete

dvd decrypter
import protected sector list file contains:
PSL
184370-184400
184401-184431
184432-184462
184463-184493
184494-192543
192544-196079
1953828-2084899
2259324-2259354
2259355-2259385
2259386-2259416
2259417-2259447
2267504-2271039
4038680-4038749
4038750-4169821
4169840-4169909
Most of these are generated automatically, except for 192544-196079 and 2267504-2271039. These are the addresses for the unreadable sectors. I was able to copy the protected vts_02_01.VOB and vts_05_01.VOB files to my hard disk. There still seems to be some master errors (other protections).

You cant check off the matrials to make them still images because it wont even go that far. When you open DVD Shrink and choose dvd then it starts a process to determain what is on the dvd it freezes up in that process not letting you get to the editing process.. any other ideas?

Let me summarize current findings. I have confirmation from Jay that the problem is exhibited at initial analyzing portion of Shrink, around 1 minute and 6 seconds. We cannot manipulate the file structure since it hangs during the first step of analyzing the disc.
Flip has confirmed the ?official? release set on December 28. Bpoelstra is rectifying ?some master error?. Guys, is it safe to say the ?running man in green shorts? will not appear on Christmas Eve so we can get a shot pulling his pants down.
Seriously, I am glad I am not the only one having the same problem. Something is definitely happening here.

Jay, if you got to step two. Instead of inserting a blank disk, find your default directory and move or copy the VOB files to another directory to elimante DVDXCopy from deleting the files as you exit or cancel. Then, use IFOEdit to rebuilt a new set of IFO's and BUP's. Brother, your home free....got beer too.

I've ordered the DVD and will get it this week I'm told. I have it slotted as # 1 in my queue.
I usually receive it about 2 days before the "official" release date.
I'll take a wack at it as soon as it arrives (I can hardly wait, I love a challange) :)
Cheers all and SEASONS GREETINGS,
Pete
