hey. How long should it take to shrink an average movie?, is 4 hours too long?. How can I speed up the time it takes to shrink the DVD?

That depends on several things: processor speed, amount of memory, settings in shrink, length of movie.

You can speed it up dramatically by not useing any of the quality settings and enhancements, but the quality of the backup will not be as good.

Takes me about 3 hours on average. I just do it while I sleep and when I get up I put in the DVD-R and in 15 minutes I have a backup.

It takes me about 30 min to shrink a movie using DVD Shrink. I don't use any quality enhancements and the movies look great.

Four hours is far too long - you need to ensure that you are operating in DMA mode.

With a PIII 800 with 256 Mb RAM, I can rip/encode between 15 and 35 minutes and burn in under 15 mins.

You should be able to achieve better with more powerful systems.
