PS2GURU, can you tell the exact steps u did to back up ONLY the simulation and not the arcade game. Like what files you used and which ones you left out. Did you do all this through dvd decripter and make an iso?
No, I only used dvd decryptor to extract the files to my hd, I used DVD Shrink to make the iso, but it took some trial and error to figure out which files to leave out of the iso. Unfortunately, I had to erase each iso that didnt work and start over cause my hd didnt have the space to save em all, and I didnt write down the files I left off of the working copy, so I'm not even sure I could do it again without making another stack of coasters. But, I could make unlimited copies of my working copy, I guess.

also, by your post I assume you have never even looked at the folders or files that are on the game, and I can even go further to say you probably have NOT played it or even seen it running.
How about this....... If you dont want to show us screenshots of you compressing the disc, why dont you tell us what car you choose for your first car? How much it costed? what upgrades you did with the left over cash? and how much HP you made with those upgrade?
Your prices should reflect the $15,000 starting money, and I will go double check on my game your findings.
also just for fun, let me know how fast you did the second license test.... you know the one with the viper GTR "T spec" where you have to start from a stop and then stop on the 1000M mark. I did it in 27.8 seconds. I was only .2 seconds too slow to get the gold GT for it.

quote: that has got to be a crock because DVD Shrink will not even open that file or the disc for that matter.
This is true, if you open DVD Shrink in windows. You must open it in DOS, and give the command prompt to open the files.

what was the command you used to run it under dos? its written to run under the windows GNU kernal. so it wont even run stabily in dos, let alone accept cammands to boot.

I transfered 100k from my gt3 save and the first car I bought was the Buick Grand National, cause I used to have one in real life and it's my all time fav car. Then I put stage 3 turbo, racing chip, and stage 2 weight reduction. I got it up to 490 horses, and it tops out around 180mph. Also, how could I show you screenshots on this board?

you need to upload the screenshots to a pic hosting site. cardomain works fine. then when you are in the post reply section look on the top, it tells you how to link pics to it.
The programming you would have had to do to make this work should be impossible compared to the little bit og HTML you need to know to post a link:)

while you are taking those explain how you got DVD Shrink to work in dos again. I just tried it and its not working. I can see the .exe file in the folder for it, but its not starting up.
Or do you have a "special" version of DVD Shrink?
Wait....... Its DVD Shrink Ver 5.3 isnt it? If been waiting for that one to download from a torrent site. But its going really slow. Its only 14 mb, but its only coming at 318 KBITS/SEC. It says at this rate it will take 79.35 hours to download!
Hopefully you will have your screenshots up by then so I will know what I need to do.

the files all look exactly the same, I just used dummy files and named em exactly the same as the ones I left out, but they take up no space on the disc.

ok, but how did you get the second layer files onto the first layer of the disc? or did you just not use the second layer data?

After I removed the arcade files,DVD Shrink automatically encoded the second layer files into the iso, but since the total iso size was only about 4.35 gigs, it put em all on the first layer I guess. I don't know how else it could have worked.

Im not ruling anything out yet. But I just tested everything he said he did and I say its a load of crap. But there are lots of smart people out there. and there are ways of making certain programs do what they are not designed to. So this guy is either really smart, or one of the dumbest posters on this thread.
I am not passing judgement yet. But I will base it on the screenshots we see here.
So far there are more than 5 things wrong with his story. But I wont point those all out yet. I would rather let him dig himself in farther. Prove by his own posts what his level of inteligence is.

You kids don't wanna believe the guru...thats cool. I'll admit that a basic understanding of computer programming is required to run DVD Shrink in dos, and I made 4 coasters before I got it right, but it can be done people! If I can do it, anybody can, cause I aint no hacker, not by a longshot. Well, I'm off now, to drive my Grand National to glory. Peace out!
