Well it must be copy protected in both ways because I can't back up a copy and I also can't even play the original copy on my modded Playstation 2.

remy, you are right, nobody wants to take the time to try and do it,well the ones who are not capeable, like me, i tried everything i knew, like splitting it and then burning it to a rw, but it won't read a rw, and i tried several other things, nad after 10 frisbees i finnally gave up, but i am not computer literate, i work on cranes in the gulf of mexico, and they don't have any electronics on them, but i tried everything i know how and like you said until someone comes up with a way to two step it, i am waiting, but i tried, i wish i knew more and i would be more than happy to share my prognosis, so thanks everybody who knows and is working on it, because i don't know and ain't afraid to admit it, and look at it this way, the ones complaining prob. have 100 games already, that did work, so be greatful and patient, somebody will get it, and don't nock the more experienced for trying, because if i knew, i would still be trying, i first started the split theory, 800 threads ago, and i did accomplish it.but it won't read a rw. wish i had more knowledge, thanks everyone for all the positive input. dacaz

DVD Decrypter should take the full dual layer image and write it to a with the layer change at the exact same point.

In theory, if the copy is 1:1, minus the Libcrypt, it should work on consoles that can read 's, and mod chips that can boot DL backups.

1 more day... :D

and YES, I'm willing to spend $9.95 for an attempt to back up this game. If it doesn't work (which it probably won't) I'll leave the image on the HDD to be cracked at a later date.

Whether your PS2 is modded or not, you can play it immediatly if you buy the Orignal Copy of the Game. But there are small percentage of people who can't play 'cause their PS2 has bad Lens. In this case, You have to replace it with new one.

@maixima88

Which Magic chip do you have? Is it the Magic 3.1? Did you have to disable it?

The only chance in playing the backup of this game is to burn it to a dvd-r DL (+R are not supported), but as far as I know there hard to come by

Yes I burned GT4 on a Verbatim Dual Layer disc exactly the same as the pic. It made an exact 1:1 copy but the PS2 DID NOT play it! I have a V7 and SM 2.0. I don't think PS2's play dual layer 9 version. So don't waste your time and money on that theory. Those discs are expensive!

I've heard of people that have actually managed to make a backup. Some may (or may NOT) have managed with a software called copytoDVD3 (I think), and with DVD copy game wizard pro, and Nero (Newest version (upgrade)). But it was claimed that the games were burnt on DVD-R DLs. Even though these are not yet out in the market, some claim to have received them from manufacturers for evolution/test and feedback purposes.

Regardless on whether these claims are true or not, I do believe that this game is a possible burn on a dual layer. But the question would be; when???

seems like the sony dw-d22a dvd burner can write ptp so if someone has one that might be a good thing to try. can find one here: http://store.yahoo.com/directron/dwd22a.html, may also need the trial of gear 6.05 to write it and of course a dvd+r dl. also the acctel dms4 mod chip has the best chance of playing it. it may even be able to play a otp backup. hope this helps but probably not. i hope i get the chance to try some of this stuff soon.

There is a torrent on torrentspy that is 2.01GB. I won't link it, find it yourself.

It say's it is Dvd5. People there are claiming fake with out thinking a bit first. If you create a Layer 1 ISO it will only be around 2-3GB big. Notice the compressed rar is 2.01GB. If someone managed to hack the First layer removing all Layer2 calles, then this might work. As we know, Layer2 is just a copy of GT4.VOL to confuse us. I have created Layer1 and Layer2 iso's with proper LBA adjustments according to my filelist.txt .

Layer 1 ISO is 2,676,346,880 bytes
Layer 2 ISO is 2,596,204,544 bytes

If there ever is a release, plan on it being half the size of the current releases/backup's, sence Layer2 will be removed.

I can't get the torrent to work though :/ tracker seem's to be down.
