What are you guys using to open .VOL files? I remember seeing a viewer somewhere for the movies or something but can't remember where. Probally was PS2NFO.... So the hunt begin's.

EDIT: I found it :)

The music are most propably ss2 files, and for the other info on the they're adpcm coded so you have to drop the sampling rate to 22khz to make them half the size.

im going to use Nero to burn the files as a DVD-ROM (UDF/ISO) compilation, its asking what the "UDF partition type" is, it can be either Physical, Virtual or Sparing partition, which shall i choose????

I really think that this thread should be closed it doesn't benefit anyone now. As Stinky_1 said there are people who have far more skills on the matter than any the countless wannabes here.

Hey i found something before you burn the 5.25GB something like that iso, look in the settings and under the ISO Write Mode tab there is a bit there saying "Layer Break (For DL Media)" then has radio buttons for

Calculate Optimal
User Specified

next to user specified it says "Sectors in L0:"
then u can put some sort of hex or offset code in, perhaps if you put in the offset of the next layer it will burn GT4L1.VOL on the second layer

So you are all saying that the second layer is NOT needed at all, and that the size of GT4 actually fits on a single layer disc, without ANY modification to the game? (ie compress and/or ripping stuff out of it)

Hello Guys!

I've just got an info that GT4 could be burned with Benq 1620 Pro (taiwan made) on dual layer media. Through this you can make a perfect backup..
The below writers have failed to successfully backup GT4 on mitsubishi and verbatim DL media. So if you own one of these, forget it....
Pioneer AO8
NEC3500A(G)
Sony (A11)
I hope that if somebody successfully copied GT4 with the dvd rewriter mentioned above it would be very nice if you can share it with us. I had tried several times to copy it with my NEC3500A(G)but it didn't work.
Apparently, protection on this game is not a problem. The problem lies in your writer and the writing technology. So Philips writers may work but i have no news on that. Another importance is the writing speed . DO NOT GO FASTER THAN 2.4X.

I haven't already burned any dvd and i don't want to do that if i know that the game is protected. Sorry for my english but i'm italian..

the answer to all your questions is YES!!

Yes you can delete the entire second layer and burn the first layer to a dvd-r and boot the game

Yes you can use ANY DL media you want with any burner you want and make a 1:1 backup of ANy original from any country.

Yes you can burn this game even though its PTP in OTP format and for some reason it will work just fine

Yes you do NOT need a mod chip to play backups of this game! Sony messed up big time and made it so it doesnt have the bad sectors, so it has no idea if you have a copy or the original.

Yes you can do whatever you want and you are all smarter than everyone else here, so YOU alone can do what we all have already tried and it will WORK for YOU!!

Freakin morons!!!

I swear if I see more posts about this stupid questions Im gonna start searching Ip's from your posts and start flooding your connection, get you kicked from your isp, and then do it again when you get a provider. I will keep doing it until there are no ISP's left in your area just so I can keep the internet safe from yet another retarded moron that is too fricken lazy to read a little!!! pathetic retards!!

Calm down, Stinky... I understand your frustation, but please try to understand them... Even though they are asking stupid/already answered questions, you'll need to face the fact that this thread is nonetheless very very long, and that most of these new (old) questions come from users that have simply just made a search on google or something... It's a 40+ pages thread... It's hard to start from page 1... So just ignore their questions...

stinky has got temper! lol. Stinky dont forget every question is stupid and since the thread is long, it makes perfect sense, if some users asks the same questions again due to lazyness. If the world would have followed your theory, it would have been in the stone ages. People in this forum are looking at each and every possibility. I am following a lot of other forums on this topic and this forum is the only one which is doing some solid work and i strongly believe the solution will come from this forum. I sure sony is laughing its ass off for the time being.

BOMB, what you lazy retards are too lazy to figure out its that every single fricken thing you are all trying I ALREADY TRIED. If you want to call me a lazy bum thats fine, but pull some reading to get some real facts first. The fact is that every single theory everyone on here has tried so far I have also tried. Thinking maybe they had some good ideas and they just needed a second person to test it.

SO before you go calling me stupid or lazy check your facts!!

You want my opinion, I think the most genuis idea that has come out of this group was to put a copy of the second layer contents on a single layer disc, and run the first layer off the hdd. This would (in the theory) allow the game to access layer 2 off the disc and layer one from the hdd. Thus eliminating the need for soooo much swapping.

I accept that this thread is long, but how stinkin retarded can some people get? I mean their "cutting edge" ideas have been tried oly 2 PAGES erlier. When I search on the net and find a long thread like this I may not read the first 40 pages, but I sure as heck will read 2 or 3 pages back first. Especially before I sign up to a site then ask a stuppid question.

Now back to my original point, if you have one of your "great ideas" thats FINE! try it out and see if it works. If it does work then document it and come tell is WHAT YOU DID. Nobody here cares what you think will work anymore, not unless it works. And as I already said unless you are capable of getting really intimate with the code of the game, and compressing files, and creating dummy files you wont be backing this game up!
