I have tried everything here and I still can't get Friday Nights to work. Can someone tell me the best and easiest way to do this? I have gotten all the other movies to work.

If you've tried everything, then there is no more to try.
Seriously though, what have you tried with what programs?
Try the AnyDVD trial and the DVDCopy3 trial and see if those work.
http://www.slysoft.com http://www.intervideo.com http://www.dvddecrypter.com
Personally, I run AnyDVD all the time and rip my files to the hard drive with DVD Decrypter. Then I open the Video_TS folder with the DVDCopy3 and let the program encode and burn.
If you're intent on using some other software, let us know what it is and what you were doing.
Now where's Kreskin and that mayo jar?

Did you use AnyDVD, DVD Decrypter and DVDCopy 3 the way I said? Also, did you pay attention to system and software requirements with DVDCopy3? If you're failing with this, at what point and what's happening?

Listed in the information on the InterVideo website. Direct X has to be 9 and the system has to meet minimum performance requirements. What brand and model is your PC, CPU and speed, amount RAM, size hard drive and amount free space and what is the operating system?

Strange, a failure with both Shrink and DVDCopy3. The system appears adequate as long as you're writing to drives with enough free space. Give a step by step description of what you're doing and any error messages when the process fails. Start with AnyDVD on and running and go to the failure. Forgot to ask, what brand and model is your burner drive and what media are you using?

I was just reading up on the problems that people are having backing up new movies using the ACSS encryption that Sony introduced. I am currently trying to back up The Forgotten and was using DVD Shrink, which hung at about 6%. I have surfed other forums and the thought is that ACSS encodes garbage in when the disk is mastered. This is proving to be a tricky one. Others have mentioned that they cant copy Walking Tall. I did that one fine with shrink. I am waitng for a file to finish burning then I will try the forgotten with DVD Decryptor. I attempetd to rip the files with CLADDVD. Ripped fine but when I uses Shrink to compress it hung at about 6%. I will report back witht the results.

brobear, you talked about a sector list patch. How is this done? Trying to rip LBB with DVDD and AnyDVD, no luck. Please explain.

One thing you might try on an RW disk is just try to copy the movie with no other extra features. I use shrink only for copying and have had no problems. I have copied friday night lights with 0 trouble. Im wondering where the copy protection comes into play because I havent had all the trouble everyone else is talking about.

Make sure all versions of the software are up to date. DVD Decrypter is currently 3.5.2.0 and AnyDVD is 4.5.5.1. With the later versions, patches shouldn't be needed. However for reference, the patches can be found on the DVD Decrypter forum, you can access it at http://www.dvddecrypter.com .
I run AnyDVD in the background and rip the DVD to the HD with Decrypter. Toward the end of the rip I sometimes get the warning "can't patch ...", I click OK and continue. In Settings (Decrypter) one can select the "I/O" tab and at the lower right select the "Ignore Read Errors". I choose not to do that because there may be errors other than the intentional unreadable sectors. With LBB and others, even when clicking OK and continuing through the warnings, the HD files were good for encoding.

Don't know why anyone would be talking about Walking Tall, that was an easy backup. Remember to leave the AnyDVD running all the time and the new encryption shouldn't be a problem with DVD Shrink. As insurance I use DVD Decrypter to rip to the HD first. Hasn't failed yet. I use the files for more than Shrink is another reason I rip to the HD.

Your suggestion to change "unreferenced material" from automatic to still picture worked like a charm on Friday Night Lights. Thanks much!!

I just backed up my Friday Night Lights with no problem. Used Shrink which burned with Nero. I was having a lot of weird problems like computer locking up when inserting a DVD and during burns. I tried everything even removing some burner programs like Xcopy that I don't use anymore. Finally I noticed one day everything was working ok and finally realized what I had done was disable Norton Antivirus for something else. I disabled it so it never loads at startup and everything is great. When I first put Norton Antivirus on it screwed up my entire installation of XP. It took me several days to get it's meddling fingers out of everthing but still never realizing it is just as bad as a virus itself. It's off now and will be that way until they tell me it can be fixed. Good luck.

If Norton is so messed up, why do I have a complete suite of Norton Utilities and Security running on an XP PRO system with SP2 and no problems? I even let it stay on when I encode and burn because I have enough RAM that it's small draw makes no difference.
Sounds more like an isolated system problem than a big Norton problem. It's a well known fact that 321 software suffers from interference problems and 321 suggested turning off anti virus software along with anything else one could shut down. I'd look more at the XCopy than the Norton.
By the way, XCopy problems belong in the XCopy forum, not the newbie section.

OK. I've tried just about everything I've read here. At one point I was able to rip FNL with decrypter, no problem. I just couldn't encode. I got AnyDVD, upgraded to the newest versions of decrypter & shrink and now I get hung up at about 42% decrypting. Any ideas?
I'm about to reboot, triple check the original for any scratches & try again. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

wow people working so hard for a very bad movie.
1)twiggyrmr how much room do you have on your hd?
2)try defragging your hd
3)close all programs and leave the one you need up
4)do a disk cleanup
5)go to a restore point on your computer
6)is your CPU at a 100%-if so, is it for the program your using?
