Hey all, I would REALLY appreciate any help with the following problem.
I keep getting an "insufficient memory" error about 50% into encoding Resident Evil 2. I intially ripped Resident Evil 2 into an ISO file with DVD decryptor. Since I only wanted the widescreen version of the movie, I used DVD shrink to change "title 2" (the fullscreen) into a slide...which then gave me enough room so that I wouldn't have to compress the widescreen version.
Anyways, when I click "backup" to create a new ISO file, I get that "insuffient memory" error. The problem (I think) is due to DVD shrink just moving stuff into the buffer (and not writing fast enough. I just see the buffer getting bigger and bigger until it overwhelms the memory (usually around 1,600 MB)and produces the error.
This doesn't happen when I tested it against an ISO file of a friend's wedding video, which was about the same size as the wide-screen only version of Resident Evil (about 3.8 gb). In this case the buffer bounces between 80-70 MB and does just fine.
I'm using a desktop P4 with 512 RAM, with a secondary 80gb hardrive with 60gb free space for the file storage/creation. Windows XP sp2, Virtual mem set to 3000-4000 MB. hard drive was defragged prior to these attempts. I don't think the problem is with my burner, cuz I'm just creating an ISO file on the hard-drive, not burning to a DVD. But I'm using a TDK 440N burner and TDK 4X DVD-R media for what its worth. DMA settings for this burner are enabled.
Well thats all the pertinent info I can think of...I apologize if i'm missing something obvious...I'm still a newbie and have only been working with these programs for a few days.
