You mentioned that you bought your dad the same drive that you have for christmas. I recommend going to your dad's house downloading the lastest version of any dvd, then try to backup Friday Night lights. I will not be able to try until it is realeased here in the United States. I can tell you I was able to make backups of Resident Evil and Little Black Book fine using shrink and any dvd so I don't antisipate a problem with Friday Night Lights.

I've already tried the latest version of AnyDVD. I'm assuming all you have to do is run it when u put in your DVD cuz that is what I have done and it doesn't work. I says that it removed all encryptions, but shrink still locks up as well as decryptor

Txstang this is a quote from one of your previous post.

Funny thing is that I bought my dad the same Pioneer 108 for christmas and downloaded shrink for him and he has been able to burn Once upon a time in mexico and Full Metal jacket both of which I've can't seen to rip. And his computer is older and slower!!

This is why I recommend for testing purposes to try on your fathers computer to see if it does the same as yours.

I've seen this in another post and I'm pretty sure its whats happening to my nephew,He downloaded the newest nero(5.31) and he cant burn with it, I gave him my older nero(the one i'm using- oem suite) told him to delete everything from the newer Nero, install the older one and see if that helps,I burn with no problems using DVD Shrink and Nero,DVD Shrink and decrypter, except when I need to use the vobblanker(an excellent program),The problem I see with users of vobblanker is they dont use the process all button on the right side,They seem to want to jump ahead and push the process button at the bottom first,If you do that you only blank the one file, you need to highlight at least one file in the top box then click the process all button then click process. Also users that install the incd packet to Nero have alot of problems because incd read other files not just the one you are trying to burn.Try getting incd uninstalled ,restart, and then try burning . Hope this helps...it did wonders for me.Try looking thru the thread(cant burn with Nero )-it has a lot of help from scuba pete and others,,,Good luck and Good burning

It's not the burning im having trouble with, its getting the files off of certain DVD's. Older ones like Full Metal Jacket, Fight Club which I don't think should be a problem seeing as how they are older and don't have the newer encryptions. The problem is in ripping the actual disks I get I/O errors, ecryption messages, and ect.

I found when I burned the turtles movies two disks I had to use DVD Shrink and the third I could only burn just using Nero,it had no copyright or whatever, drove me crazy until I just tried it with just plain old Nero, give it a try you never know. And what really threw me was the turtles was a box set not individual discs...

Hello,
I'm working on the same problem. I tried to copy the files of a movie from a DVD9 1:1 to my HDD using Shrink 2.3. On the cover was written 'copyprotected'. And the DVD has two very small 'blanked tracks' on it - hard to see.

My steps to solve the problem: start Shrink - open disk (full disk) - look at the preview. At the end of the emain menu the preview froze. OK. New start - open disk - stop preview and jump to the start of the movie - look at the preview. At the end of the movie the preview froze again. OK. Again new start - open disk - stop preview and jump after the end of the movie - look at the preview. No freezing until the end. I found two very nice little 'jumps into nirvana' or something like a "Protection based on unreadable Sectors". Maybe Sony ARccOS?

Now - I had just to copy 'around' the faulty parts of the DVD: Start Shrink again, but I choose 'Re-author' this time - and stopped the preview emediately. The main movie was 'Title1'. So I draged and dropped it to 'New DVD'. With 'Start/End' and a lot of try and error I located the freeze-causing faults in the first and last chapter of the movie. I ignored them starting the new DVD with the second chapter and ending it before the last one. After a while I found the movie on my HDD. Only the menues had gone. So what...

Question to a lawjer: I just copied 'some' unprotected files from the DVD. The protected chapters I left totally untouched. Doesn't seem it legal?

might help

I don't know why, but my problems with DVDshrink and error messages started after my computer did a autoupdate to Microsoft SP2. Call me spooked, but that may have something to do with it.

I upgraded both my intel 3.0 xp home and my amd 2.8 xp home to sp2 and i'm burning great.Only thing I've done to beat the new code is use vob blanker.I find it very wierd that so many people here have a hard time trying vob blanker.I'm no computer wiz and I figured it out. You just need to pick a sorce from wich to copy(dvd drive) and pick a destination(hard drive ) crate a file name where you will find the movie later.Vob will show all the files in the big upper white square,on the right side you see 5 buttons, the fifth says process all(click it)After you have highlighted at least one file in the upper box,At the bottom click the process button(at the very botton -in the middle. You need to click both process buttons or vob will only copy the single file you highlighted,After vob is done (remove the dvd from your drive)go to dvd shrink and click (get files)
Find where you stored the files and click it,,,When it opens there will be A folder(I name mine after the movie and add blanked to title)click the files and your anylize should start.just put a recordable disk in dvd drive and walk away, should burn with no probleems

Ok this is getting really weird I don't know why I can't back up older DVDs like Full Metal Jacket and Natural Born Killers and the new ones rip and burn just fine. I've tried every single free program and used VOB correctly. VOB blanker was able to rip all ove FMJ unlike shrink, decrypter or smart ripper, but when the encryption kicked in the screen pixilated and eventually the video disappeared altogher but you could still hear the audio. I'm using the Pioneer DVD+-RW 108 drive with Nero 6.0.0.28 and havent had any problems before a few weeks ago. Anybody got any suggestions on what to do next?

Have you tried to burn the video using dvd shrink and decrypter together...You can also try getting a little program called dvd43 and also patin couffin, these work with the earlier versions of dvd's,if you have the rf version of dvd xcopy they work great with that too, those are the two programs I was using before I found dvd shrink....Like I also said some of the older dvds didnt have all the protection stuff on them and I was able to burn them with just nero

Thats all I have is one dvd drive,Nero will download the disk to your hard drive and then take it from your hard drive and burn it to a disk(i've done itlots of times) just like burning a cd.Just dont use the quick start and make sure your Nero is on the dvd setting when you start then click copy entire disk. You can also use DVD Shrink ,after you anylyze the disk click reauthor movie and you can select the files you want-takes a little time to figure out but you'll catch on to it

I have the same I/O error. Perhaps we can determine the cause by changes made since DVD Shrink was last working. It worked for me before recently reformatting my hard drive and reinstalling the program. Since then, (1) I installed priority updates from Windows. (2) first time for paid songs, which includes copy protection and their music player. Anyone with similar changes?

Since posting, I back-up one of my older DVDs and Shrink worked fine. Apparently, the newer DVDs are the problem.
One could always try Restore and go back to an ealier date, to find out if Updates are the cause.

Are you running xp(home-pro) if yes I've installed all the updates for xp home including service pack two and i'm having no problems,I find it hard to believe you cant burn the newer disks using vobblanker(I love it)Do you have enough memory, hard drive space(5 gig minimum 10 gig or more is best. Are you running incd with Nero (I had alot of problems with incd and Nero /dvd shrink)Are you using quality dvd disks, cheaper disks gave me heartburn
