I'm trying to copy an all region dvd-9 and then shrink it to burn on a standard dvdr but when I open the disk to get the files and click ok, it says

DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.
failed to read file "D:/"
The drive cannot find the sector requested

I should also mention that it says it's a powerdvd file in the properties for the file. It might be a .vob file, i'm not sure though, prolly is but i don't understand why it's not accepting it. Any ideas how to fix these problems? Thanks

Try usinng DVD Decrypter version 3.5.2.0 to rip the movie to your hard drive first.Shrink has problems with some newer movies. http://www.dvddecrypter.com/index.php?act=download

I tried doing this and got this msg, since it is a dvd-9

You should remember, that this method can only be used for DVDs that are smaller than 4.36GB in size including all the files on the DVD. If you have DVDs that you want to backup, but are larger than 4.36GB, please check our other guides for more information.

so any ideas?

After ripping to your hard drive with Decrypter you can then use Shrink to open the file you created.Decrypter can be used to rip any DVD to your hard drive. If it is a DVD-9 that is when you need to use another program to compress/encode to fit on a DVD-5(4.7GB)

That's the problem atm though, it was Decrypter that gave me the msg in my second post when I tried to rip it onto my hard drive. I didn't understand why it mattered to Decrypter if it was DVD-5 or DVD-9 when ripping but i don't know.

I got the same problem.

I think it's not a software but a hardware problem.

I got the error message when I want to copy files from one harddisk to another.

I think there are some fucked up sectors on the harddisk.

Got no solution yet, and nobody seems to have an anwer.

I don't remember DVD Decrypter giving any such error message. I think someone is confused and I don't think it is me.

That is a message in this Guide. Word for word.

That message only applies when you are not using any additional transcoding software like DVD Shrink to reduce the size to fit on a DVD-5. If you are using DVD Shrink, you can ignore that message in that guide.
