shrink vs roxio, and a question about compression

I have a copy of roxio easy dvd copy. To my surprise, it seems to have compression capabilities similar to shrink. Is there anybody here who can give me an informed view of how the two compare?

At the same time, maybe somebody could clarify something about dvd compression. VOB files are MPEG-2, right? Is the compression built into MPEG-2 variable? Seems it must be, for shrink or roxio to do their magic, but not really having any experience in the authoring aspect of dvd creation, I wouldn't really know. So if anyone can add to my knowledge here, I would appreciate it.

So far as I know, there is only one version of Easy DVD Copy. Are you perhaps thinking of the Creator product?
