has anyone encountered this error

DVD shrink has encountered an error and cannot continue

failed to read file "F:\"

data error (cyclic redundancy error)

any help would be appreciated

Post in the appropriate forum next time. A crc error usually means a dirty or scratched disc. It could also be a bad factory pressed disc.

Are you using the original?

no i'm using ones that i copied using DVDXCOPY they play fine in my machine but will not read in DVD Shrink do you know why

It's the media. To copy a backup you have to use quality media for the first backup.
