I've just started making backups and I've had minor success. I've made backups of two different EA games. The gameplay is fine, but if you enter into one of their tutorials the video is so choppy that I basically have to turn my PS2 off and start over, and basically don't use the tutorials as they never work. There are other instances as well when it launches into a "video" and the same thing happens. I'm using a TEAC burner, Swap Magic 3.0, DVD Decrypter, and Memorex media. Is this a common issue? I'm not sure what to try, I've been burning at 2x. Anyone else seen this problem?

this is a common issue. you need to get EA fixes to allow the backup to work correctly. once you get those you are good to go.

don't listen to him, there are no EA fixes needed for swap magic (at least for the game your playing). If your using memorex -r discs, thats most likely the problem. Try some verbatim or ritek. http://www.swapmagicfix.com lists other problem games an their fixes.

Yeah you use a 107 and g04's... so it can only be better ;)?.. its dual layer so if i get desperate i can burn a dvd 9 lol ^_^..

I've managed to get Silent hill 4 copied nice and ghost recon 2 works (dvd loader)... however i cant play ghost recon 2 online.. any reason why?

(and need for speed 2 bad copy wouldnt pass the check... should i use the memory card trick with disc id?)

Cheers ;)

listen to sly he is right about it being a media problem. i backed up nascar 2005, burded to a maxell dvd+r, loads real slow and tutorials pause a little. so i pulled out a good verbatim dvd+r fixed everything loads great, plays great, looks great. i also used DVD Decrypter @ X1.

i believe the problem im having is the fact that the music and the game both try to load at the same time, because its being burnt at 2x it skipping (the game wouldnt know the difference) and then we find its unplayable.

when my pioneer 108 comes ill burn the same image i made from the original at 1x :) on a ridisc ritek G04 !... hope it goes well, could be tomorrow.

whoa whoa whoa wait guys the easiest way to get all the EA games to work is by rebuilding them and burning them at the lowest possible speed. Its as simple as that, I have made copies of about every EA game and all of them work fine no choppy video or nothing. (But make sure you burn them at the lowest speed)

memorex is a unreliable source of dvd blanks

run one of the disc's through this and tell me who made it(what manufacturer ID)

http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/

there is a good chance they may be garbage dvd media

I have used Memorex DVD=R since I started backing up all my dvd's and I have yet to run into a disc that wouldn't play or that had any problems of any kind. As with my games I use the same discs. I have never had a game that wouldn't load or any other problems.

I don't know why there are so many problems with Memorex discs, but I have 8 spools of 50(discs) that I have used to backup movies, games, media and had not one problem.

You got me why this is, possibly just what batch the discs comeout of. Not every single shipment of discs is the same so thats my best guess.

Same here, no problems with memorex media, actually I find one of the better ones, compared to many generic brands out there.
