As a newbie to DVD burning, I am experiencing an I/O error when burning a DVD through DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter. (File mode in DVD Decrypter, Shrink and burn ISO image with DVD Decrypter - Nero burning unchecked in preferences).

The decrypt process works fine, the shrink process works fine, but as DVD decrypter is writing the lead in, I get an I/O error. If I ignore the message (ie. don't press anything and leave it on the screen) the DVD will burn (sometimes successfully, sometimes not).

The message is as follows:

I/O Error
Device: [1:0:0] Lite On DVDRW SOHW-1653S CS09 (E:) (ATA)

Scsi Status: 0x02
Interpretation: Check Condition

CDB: 25 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
Interpretation: Read Capacity

Sense Area: 70 00 02 00 00 00 00 0A 00 00 00 00 04 08 00 00 00 00
Interpretation: Logical Unit not ready, Long Write in progress.

I am running Win XP SP2, latest versions of DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink and I also have the latest version of OEM Nero 6 Reloaded installed. Lite On DVD Burner SOHW-1653S is set as master, Lite On Combo Drive as slave and using Datasafe printable -4R media.

Is it a media problem ?

Thanks in advance.

That isn't an error seen too often.

LIGHTNING UK!
Author of DVD Decrypter says about I/O errors.

I/O Errors are NOT bugs!!!! (well, not 99.99999% of the time anyway)

An I/O Error is my way of displaying a problem your drive had with the disc or your system config (mainly a disc problem though).

Unrecovered read errors, Seek errors, Servo errors, Focusing errors, ECC errors etc. are all your drives way of saying "I don't like this disc".

Clean the disc, update your drives firmware (http://www.rpc1.org), try it in another drive, get another copy.

END OF STORY!

Note: If you're burning a disc in ISO Write mode and get an error, it's pointless trying another disc from the same pack / spindle. You need to find some different discs, with a different dye type and try those instead.
Your drive firmware CS09 is up to date.

I guess try what it says.
