Hello Everyone,
Lately every 3rd DVD-R that I have been trying to backup video on gives me an error.. Failed Burning at 4X.
I have a Sony DVD RW DW-U12A Drive. I'm using a 4X DVD-R Media.

I've been having problems only lately. Must have had atleast 80-90 no problem burns using the same equipment.

Here's the log. Any and all help will be appreciated. :)

Your media is questionable, I would change to some better quality.

I don't think your problem has anything to do with questionable media, for I have had recently precisely the same problem. I have a DRX-500ULX which I have used for for over 100 burns and then suddenly I have been getting the same error over and over. When I run the Sony DriveTest program it says that the drive is functioning correctly, but no burning software I try will function anymore. The only change I have had recently is I purchased and installed Sonic MyDVD Studio in order to burn Tivo transfers to DVD. This I did successfully about 10 times. It's a frustrating problem. I get the error message "burn process failed." And sometimes "error - 2016". The last items in my log refer to a "power calibration error." I paste that in below.

Good luck to both of us in finding a solution.

rororo,I never suggested for one moment the problem was caused by questionable media.
I can not see in the log given any obvious problem, howerver I did notice the media being used is not of good quality, that is why I suggested some better ones.

I'm with you bardie, Princo are 3rd class media, 50% burn success according to digitalfaq.Redbaron7,you look like you are going at a %66.6666 success rate. Try slowing down that burn speed.Pick up a small pack of maxell -4x,all 3 manufacturers are pretty good:ritek go4/ty-go1/mxl-rg02

rororo: Power calibration errors can also occur on poorer media quality. You didn't state which brand/format/and speed rate of your media. The quality of media can vary within a spindle/different spindle/and even in a different quantity batch with the same brand name. Some members even find different manufacturer codes within the same spindle.
Did you try un-installing mysonic dvd? It may be a software conflict.
You might want to update your burner's firmware to the latest update.

Thanks for the advice. I installed the latest firmware and tried uninstalling all my different burn software to no avail. (By the way I'm using TDK-Rs, 4x). I discovered however that the burner still burns when I use +Rs. I've been using -Rs up until now for the life of the machine. Is it possible that the drive can burn out (thus the power calibration failures) on only one DVD type and still be good for another? (BTW, turning it off and letting it rest doesn't seem to solve the problem).

Thanks.
