Hello, I just wondered if it takes everyone else 5+ hours for shrink to start enalysing and encodeing a full disk backup before it is done?

Is there any way to speed up the process?
I have replaced all the extras with still images and it seems to help alittle.

Thanks :-)

It takes me between 25-50 mins, depending on what quality enhancement settings I use. What are your system specs?

Ya. You might wanna consider upgrading your memory. You might get a noticable jump from adding another 512kb stick in your machine. Also check that your HD is set to DMA mode. Search this forum for DMA and you should find instructions on how to do that.

Yes you can. If you are burning a back up with no compresssion or very little of course you can. If you are compressing at like 60% and you do the quality setting yes that is different. I strip out all the garbage as most do.

You might want to try main movie only. That will definitely speed you up.Shouldn't need the smooth or sharp enhancements with the less compression this way.

I just got through with pearl harbor on my spare pc: celeron 598 mhz,256 mbs rimm,30 extra gigs hard drive,xp sp1- main movie only with all of shrinks enhancements and accidental 16x burn with Nero. Total time: 3hrs 50 mins. With no compression, i can do a backup in about 40-50 mins at 4x. Man I gotta watch those sony +1-8x ty's.
