Hi. I'm using this program for the first time and upon loading the disc DVD Shrink announces that it cannot read because there is an error in the copy protection and also a reading error because the sector is codified.

Any idea how to proceed to solve this issue? Thnx

What are you trying to backup? Make sure that the disc is as clean as possible and buff it out the best you can. Even the slightest mar, as insignificant as it may seen can effect the ripping process. If you are trying to back up a newer tristar/columbia release you may want to use DVD Decrypter (free) to rip the movie first and then use shrink.

Hi... I'm trying to back up "Gods and Generals". I've bought the movie 1 month ago and now, after I got the DVD-RW burner, want to back up the disc just in case.
But it has only be used once in my DVD player, thus I don't think it's scratched or anything similar...

Double check, even a disc you just opened can have a mar or two. Try and see if DVD Decrypter is able to rip it. What program are you using to burn?

try uing the adive give by wolfniggr

you could also try using anydvd

you can download it for 21 free trial
its the best protection remover on the market
it runs in the background along with whatever encoder you are using
try it,i can almost gaurantee it will work,aslong there are no problems with your pc of course

I had no problems whatsoever at ripping it with DVDDecrypter...

I have cleaned the disc again and no luck. It's starnge because I can see the movie perfectly well at my DVD-player and at the DVD-ROM.

What's AnyDVD for?

I've had that message a few times also after running alot of ripping software at once. A reboot of the PC usually fixes the problem.
