I know that all this OTP/PTP confusion should be abolished as samuels is saying but hey i'm new to the whole thing and whilst sitting at home, i put some logic into the whole thing.
OTP and PTP are two seperate burning methods.
OTP where (0)1 burns inside-out, and (0)2 burns outside-in
PTP where (0)1 burns inside-out, and (0)2 burns inside-out also.
But, if the Original is being copied, when the burner reads the original wont it read layer two backwards in the first place. It's like lets say for example converting arabic to english, if we read arabic left to right it would be inversed therefore we wouldnt understand the translation, but if we convert arabic reading right to left, then writing the english from left to right, we will understand what has been translated.
Someone please tell me if I have somehow misunderstood how the burner duplicates, but IF you attempt to burn a backup of the original GT4, when it comes to the second layer wont it read the layer backwards (OTP), and then burn it backwards as well? If you can understand me its the same as this maths method.

- + = -
If your reading backwards and burning backwards. Shouldnt the copy be a duplicate of GT4? So then I would come to the conclusion that it has to be dvd checks?
Instead of abusing me in this thread about how i am wrong, as its all i have seen for the last 11 pages, could someone please PM me if i am misunderstanding the whole concept and steer me the right way?

I could be wrong but the problem is the burn reads the whole thing and then burns it in sidde out and then inside out agian you would have to have a program that reads the top layer, then the bottom and give you the option on how you want them burned.But i could be wrong wouldnt be the first time.

no abuse here. but no. our drives can read ptp discs properly they just can't write them. the drive will still read the data in the same direction it's written whether it be OTP or PTP but the are no commercial burners available yet that will burn PTP. Now that it's becoming an actual issue i don't think it'll be much longer before they're on the market though. The main prob with GT4 has simply been the checks and the fact that we can't flatten the game to a single layer and until the last few days modchips wouldn't read DL copies. And though your theory doesn't hold up it is nice to see someone out there has a brain and actually tries to use it.

Hey guys, sorry i can't add anything to the discussion. Will a backup of GT4 work on my matrix infinity mod chip? I have read the entire thread and done some searches but it seems to have left me a little confused, if anyone could help me out thats cool, if not thanks anyway

Hey guys i have a dms4 lite modchip installed on my v9. I just flashed it with the new ToxicBios 1.3 which allows Dvd DL disks. Will it work now if i make a copy?
Fuck This Shit..

Well, thanks to a lot of browsing, i discovered a link to a site that has the 1st (known) working backup of GT4. It has a video also on the site that plays footage of it actually working from bootup, to HD loader, to game itself. There are, so far, no known bugs or problems yet. It is about 3 days since testing and is working just fine.
It uses a new copying method using DVD Decrypter, then using the patch to patch the game, then FTP the files over to the hard drive. You need DVD Encrypter, the game (GT4), and the network card for this to work. It is too big to fit onto a DVD to put into the system to copy final image on to a DVD (obviously). Enjoy!!!
Finally, seeing this a reality!!! Such an awesome game yet too. Instructions and all are on the site. Pretty idiot proof as it shows pictures and all for proper settings. Disbelief still?? Fine, over 288 posts so far expressing happyness with the efforts made to allow this possible and figuring it out and how good it actually works, enjoy the ultimate game ever made!!!!

Hi all GT4.VOL has all the music and stuff and GT4L1.VOL has movies only i fould the only workin pro to scan for movies and it will extract them as well so now i have all the movies down to a good size to make a dvd5 image but i cant find a pro that will build the vol file back inplace, i have tryed what others say but its not in the rite code or somthin cos if i scan the new vol file i get nothin so if anyone has a pro that will rebuild it in the rite way then can thay please give me a link or send it to me.
once i have a good rebuild of GT4L1.VOL then i can start to test the the game and try to get around that dvd check. the pro i used to get the movies was "GT4 Pss Scanner tool" if anyone would like it then just ask and i'll give u it ok.
PS. all the gt3 vol file extracers wont work with gt4 cos thay use a dif code now to pack them so dont wast your time with them ok.
This game wont win i wont let it *L*

I'm pretty sure the DMS4 modchip is required at the moment since it's the only one that'll take the ToxicOS.
@ Niko
If you've got Toxic then yes it'll work IF u have a HDD also. otherwise you'll need to wait a little bit longer for Toxic to release they're patch for the game.

Yeah we're not Pirates here. (Though some of us may have been in the past :) and have now seen there error of our ways.) Most of us here (like me) don't wanna spend $50 bucks on a game then have it destoyed a week later when our 3 year old discovers the game discs fly just like frisbees.

Yo check this out I know some of you may probably reject this idea,which I can understand Ok.I noticed on Sonix website he is trying to get a hold of a very interesting tool a Burning SKD package for programming.If he can reach this goal,possibilities for Apache would be awesome.Think about Sony Cd/Dvd Rom Generator with mixed in tools from Apache.This is from Sonix own works off the forums when I talked to him:

i actually don't think it's the "mods" that are in concern here....i don't want to sound like a fanboy here,but it's a true statement....PS2 is more superior than xbox "supposedly"...well the xbox can read dl b/up games and with an older chip and a newer one,*S* i have 2 xbox's one for me and one for my daughter...i shouldn't have to tell you why i have 2 xbox's *L* having a daughter is self explanatory *L*
just wait till my son is old enough...the fights that are going to be going on over the PS2 *L*
yeah zippo i know where your coming from,i too have had a disc or 3 used as a frisbee *F*...it's even been used as a coaster,even though the b/up wasn't a coaster *L*,she was just copying ppl putting her drink bottle on "what she thought was a coaster" well it's round so it must be,that must be their logic..
well back to the matter....No i don't think it's anything to do with mods or lasers,etc,it's just the DVD checks.....

Use DVD+DL. Use Alcohol. Need to have DMS4 Lite modchip. Need to have Toxic bios 1.3. Successful on 4/2/05.

hey L-Burna,
Ive been following this thread for a while but I am curious as to what u r doing with that VOL file (just trying to understand n learn a bit, thats all)?
Is ur goal to remake that file so that the game will fill on a DVD-5 or just to figure out the protection so that u can use any modchip 2 boot this game?
