look guy gt4 is not DVD-9 its got some other crack when u use dvd deycpt it saves it as over 5gb but if u use magic iso its 3.09gb and burns to a disk but only gets as far as the sony logo as every 1 elses copy does. y is every1 saying it is a dvd 9. look put it in to ya dvd drive and look at the size of the disk it 3.09 4get wot dvd deycrpter says [Quote]
sorry to say fella... but your wrong on all accounts.iv'e used several programs, only one differed in size, it told me it was 5.28 + Gb big and needed a DVD9 disc to burn back too.
i thought i nearly had it yesterday,i used the links supplied on here (sorry mate iv'e forgotten your handle :)...) it extracted everything, then it rebuilt it,but the download didn't have everything in it *F* my fault i suppose i should of checked it.it told me what it did, sorry can't remember coz i was heaved off *L* because of missing files from download,ISO.BAT,re-downloaded, and it failed from the start of the proccess.error on extraction,etc,etc...

I wasn't going to respond to this since you obviously have no idea what your talking about, but I can't help myself. Just so you know here are the file sizes i get when i look at GT4
Alcohol 120% : 4.95gigs
Nero : 5.1gigs
Dvd Decrypter : 5.3gigs
Throwing the disc in your drive and looking at it with windows explorer will do nothing for you. it's not a pc disc. You said "4get wot dvd deycrpter says", NO forget what windows says. DVD decrypter was made for this specific purpose windows explorer wasn't. Magic ISO doesn't see the whole size either because it's a piece of junk that was NOT made to copy PS2 discs. Ok enough ranting, i'm done.

You have to burn the .cue file, which must be located in the same place where the .bin is located. Then just pop it in your system, and it should flash the modchip.Easy as that right, but nothing is easy for the no mod users it seems :(.

hey this talk of modifying the toxic bios for other modchips is the way to look i think and i was wondering not all chips have flashroms but for the ones that do what would happen if u tried to flash ur modchip that isnt a DMS4 like a mars2 or something with the toxic bios would nuthin happen or would it kill the bios in ur chip killing ur modchip or worse would it hurt more than jus the chip in ur ps2 being stuff up the ps2's mainboard bios

You have to burn the flash as an image. Easiest way is to use Alcohol 120 and use the "Burn Image" option.

For everyone that keeps saying buy the game, this is not a problem.I did buy the game, but I am trying to back it up so I don't have to keep paying for the game over and over again.I will keep looking into trying to back it up,and not everyone is a pirate.I think even some people that did buy the game also would like to play it off the HDD also.If you don't have anything good to say or anything that is helpfull, why even post? Not everyone can keep the original disc from getting damaged by scratches, warped, kids etc...It is actually hard for some people to keep the game forever. That is why people work hard to make a backup of the game.

Apparently some people still don't get it. We are NOT trying to pirate the game and get it for free. That is NOT what we are doing here. We are trying to back up the original games the WE DID BUY so that they don't get destroyed and then we have to BUY THEM AGAIN.

Has anyone been successful in making a backup of GT4 on a DVD+R DL and playing it on a PS2 with a DMS4 flashed with ToxicOS 0.3?

this may have all ready been covered but i thought i saw awhile back that if u have a harddrive installed in your ps2 that you could flattern the iso image and load it on to the harddrive and u didnt need a DMS4 chip or the toxic bios

It's possible to put GT4 into one single dvd-r disc. I've done it, but the problem is that it wont's break the code completely. Is anybody know how to break the code in the background. If we have this code breaker at the background, it is possible to burn GT4 into DVD-R.

It would require too much programming knowledge to code a program that would act as a listener for the DVD9 checks.
I mean, if we're lucky, we'll be able to find/make a program that'll simply inspect the ISO for the DVD9 checks and rewrite them to work like DVD5 checks, and hopefully as a patch so that everyone can do it on their own.
What you're saying is a pretty good idea, but before we can even TOUCH that idea, we need to actually find where all the checks are in the first place by hand. Or at least recognize them enough to be able to have a program find the checks by itself.

I found some references to DVD checks for another PS2 game - jak and daxter - that may shed some light on the problem (hopefully)and references to changes made to beat them, also references to IOPRP221.img (an earlier version of GT4's IOPRP300.img ??) at -
