i have about 12 episodes of a tv program that i want on dvd, they are xvid-avi files can a just group them all and place them on the dvd and they will just play one after the other?

You need to convert the files to mpeg-2 DVD compliant. See the guides at the top of the threads. Look for convert .AVI to DVD

ok i read through it so i need TMPGEnc to encode the video to mpeg 2 audio and visually but i can author it with shrink correct?

Shrink can not covert .AVI to .vob
Go here:

If the files are converted properly then Shrink can compress the files. You can also use Nero Ultra
