I don't understand what your talkin about.
I don't copy dvds thru a dvd-vr. I have a stand alone external device that I use.. I use dvd xcopy and along with at times AnyDVD, but now I've found another source! www.dvd-copy.us it does what AnyDVD does too..haven't had any problems using this software that can be downloaded for a 14 day trial
check it out.
trying to be helpful here..

jayp3724,I guess you didnt read any of this thread?

Tallguy69,has a dvd disc that was made on a dvd recorder...not a dvd burner, or a dvd writter....a dvd recorder. It looks like a dvd player, but it records on blank dvd's.You can make dvd's in 2 different modes, dvd video, or dvd vr.The dvd video mode, is immediately playable in most dvd players, but has no editing features. The dvd vr,has many editing features, but wont play in most dvd players. So a dvd vr has to be either just played in players supporting dvd vr(which most dont support) or it has to be redone in the video mode.

ok new revelation, i go into Nero smartstart and do copy dvd. When i do disc info it says the book time is DVD-R. And it has the data tracks there- but it says session is open so i guess it wasnt finalized, so i try and close vr disc but it says problem with recorder at around 11 percent

You have to close the session on your stand alone DVD recorder. You can't close it with Nero..

Well since you cant close the disc, theres not alot you can do with it.Sounds like you might have a bad disc.
Did you try Rotary's suggestions? At this point I dont think you have much to lose.

I record all my stuff off the stand alone DVD recorder in Video mode so as to not run into problems like this. :-)

I use VR at first so that I can edit out comercials and junk. Then I write it in Video mode and finalize it so it is more compatable with my computer :-) Mine has a fit sometimes with the VR mode disk's..

Makes sense,it must be that mines too cheap.I dont think I can record, and edit, in the vr mode, and finalize(if thats what you mean)in the video mode.
Mine starts writting as soon as I hit the stop button.

hi

did you try isobuster is that where you got the .TAO from? ok did you see folders in the tree veiw to left of screen?, extract by highlighting the folder not the main image/track ....

what happens if you put the extracted TAO in isobuter? does it see files?

also where you saw the tao etc menu/tab did you see the part that says ""TREAT AS VIDEO ONLY - EXTRACT BUT ONLY AS M2F2 VIDEO FRAMES - (*mpeg) ??? if so try that...

if you still only get TAO, then use ultraiso!!!

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

If the DVD was not finalized from the DVD-Recorder, does that make it not work

It is my understanding, that a unfinalized disc is pretty much unplayable in any other players, except the one it was created in.
Take it back to your mate, and have him finalize it for you.
