third i wanted to put more avi files to dvd to clear some room. BIG problem. i am up to 5 or 6 coasters trying to figure out why i keep getting read errors. the relevant part of the log file is as follows

Is this error coming up when you are trying to encode from AVI to DVD? Or when you are trying to burn? Can you view the AVI files from your hard drive?

i replaced a power supply, a bad ide cable, a bad controller card and 2 fans. after that it still screwed up. i reformatted, it screwed up again.

i tought to move the files to another drive, one file can't be moved or deleted because it gives off a cyclic redundancy error. uninstalled all burning software and reinstalled. different screw up this time. uninstalled software (%@$#!$$ nero) and reinstalled only the basic Nero software instead of the full package that came with the burner.

burned files to disk, then dvd shrunk a movie, then more files to a dvd. it appears now that all disks are recognized. still a bit of fun with media player classic but slowly geting it ironed out.

believe the worst may be over.

sorry to ramble

cheers to all

Just so you know, CRC errors (cyclic redundancy check) are usually caused by a dirty or damaged original disc. If these files were already on your hard drive, I suspect they may be corrupt. But if you're rockin and rollin again, all is well.

Your burner does not like that brand of media. I suggest in obtaining some reliable, more reputable brand of media such as Tayio Yuden or Ritek Ridata's.
