What about without the DNAS patch? I don't play my PlayStation 2 games online, only my PC games.

My console collection: Version 14A PlayStation 2(chipped), Version 7 PlayStation 2, PlayStation(both models), Wii, Gamecube, N64, Super NES(original from US and Japan and Mini), NES(front and top loader)Model 1 & 2 Genesis, Sega CD, Sega 32X, Atari 2600, Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast, Sega Master System(Model 1 and 2), Atari Flashback 1 & 2, FC Twin(2 in 1 NES/Super NES clone), GN Twin(2 in 1 NES/Genesis clone), Atari 7800, Intellivision II, TurboGrafx 16, GameBoy Color

Some games don't work without the DNAS patch (has nothing to do with online/offline play)... Colin 2005, FIFA2006, FIFA World Cup 2006 and TOCA Race Driver 3 are some of those... after patching the 4, only TOCA worked... i think maybe with a different IOPR file the other 3 would work!

I say this cause in the USBeXtreme compatibility list those games are listed as 'working with DNAS swap'

Those who got those games working, wich files did you use to make the DNAS swap?

U just have to mess around with different IOPR files which may take forever. Its hard to find out which files work cuz ppl who who made it work with the DNAS swap usually dont tell u which files they used.

Cant wait till PS3 comes out i wonder how usb extreme will work on it since it has 2.0 usb ports. Its probably the only way for modding PS2 games on a PS3.

PS3...it only does everything(that Sony allows it to)

I was wondering if it is possible to have more than 6 bootable games on usbextreme at a time. The software will allow me to burn more than six games but the menu application when I boot the games with my playstation only sees the six games I have previously burnt and not the seventh game I just installed. I don't know if usbextreme only allows six games at a time,if my burn process is wrong, or if the fact that I'm using a partitioned hard drived has anything to do with it. Any help would be appreciated

@clemmic

If i understood your question, you want to know how many games can we have in the hard drive, right?

I now have about 20 games... and all of them boot normally (for USBeXtreme). As said before, i have a 160Gb Seagate Barracuda drive, divided in 2 partitions, 1 for USBeXtreme (FAT32 format) and the other (NTFS format) for personal backups. :)

Sorry for my vagueness on the last post, but I currently have six bootable/playable games on my xtreme. When I try to install a seventh game I can see that it installed the files correctly onto my external hard drive, but it did not create a title for my game in my menu so I can select the game to play it. I have the same setup as you masilli. Do you use DOS or Windows Client?

Do most games need to be patched to work??

I have around 12-13 games on my hard drive (300GB maxtor)and only 3 of them work.

I thinking of getting rid of usb extreme and using swap magic, as it may be more hassle but everyone says it's more compatible.

if they do need patching where do you get patches from and how do you go about patching the games.]

sorry to sound like a noob, but i am one!!

I use windows client, and that as happened to me too once... installed the game but i couldn't see it on the list, and couldn't make it work :(

kieran_dj:

Some games need patching, look for "DNAS swap" in this forum or use google, sorry i don't have the link anymore.

Also, you could use the compatibility list for USBeXtreme here:

http://jaydium.servehttp.com/usbextreme/gamelist.php

...that way you can see wich games work, wich doesn't and wich ones need patching :)

SwapMagic is more compatible, but some say it can damage the PSTwo lens. Anyways i'm still gonna try it ... have some games that don't work with usbX and i want to play them :P

Many thanks for the info.

However I have tried games such as san andreas and manhunt which are on the compatibility list

san andreas - work normally but sometimes hangs during gameplay
manhunt - works with no problems

and neither of them work for me (don't load)

could i be doing something wrong??

both were installed from original PAL discs

I don't think you're doing something wrong... i've tried San Andreas and it didn't work... also tried other games from the list (marked as working), that didn't work!

But surely there must be some defining thing that makes them work for some people and not for others? I can't find patches for any of the games i really want to use on usbextreme. I'm guessing it's because everyone says they should work, so no patches have been made.

I think the problem is maybe the hard drive. If you're using one of the compatible hard drives, it could be it's not formated properly. Just a guess. I have no idea about much on boot games off a USB hard drive.

It all depends if u have the NTSC or PAL versions. San Andreas and Manhunt NTSC version works fine for me. If u have the PAL version then it wont work.
Yea it seems USBextreme is crap but iv learn to make the most of it since there is no other way of modding on my slim wihout opening it.(besides swap magic)and i dont have a DVD burner so i cant use that.

I have 32 games on my 120 gig HD right now and most of the games are new(2005-2006).
http://jaydium.servehttp.com/usbextreme/gamelist.php
Check there for compatible games.

I recommend RE4,Onimusha4,Tombraider Ledgends,Tourist Trophy,Driver,Drqgon Quest 8,Sly 3. All NTSC version works great.

PS3...it only does everything(that Sony allows it to)

whats up every one, I had some quick questions hopefully some one could help me out. i have a external usb HD, and probably getting usb xtreme but I dont play a whole lot of games and most of the games i do play dont seem to work or you need to swap DNAS. like Hitman blood money, madden06, MLB 06. should I still buy usb xtreme or should i just get swap magic and copy games to dvd since i dont play a whole lot any way and better game compatability? and with swap magic can you benifit at all by using a external HD, if you can how? any info will help thanks.

Well, I'm very impatient and have given up on USB Extreme mow, it seems way too much hassle to get everything working they way i want it.

I have just got swap magic in the post today so hopefully will have more success with that

Just tried the DNAS swap on Moto GP 4, using Tomb Raider Legend for the source. The game still will not play on USB Extreme.

For the DNAS Swap, you need a matching IOPRP*.IMG file from another image. Here are some of the names from the files on some game disks:

IOPRP224.IMG - GT3
IOPRP214.IMG - Tokyo Xtreme Racer Zero
IOPRP241.IMG - Dead 2 Rights
IOPRP243.IMG - Tekken 4
IOPRP270.IMG - Manhunt
IOPRP20.IMG - USB Extreme
IOPRP270.IMG - Online CD 3
IOPRP300.IMG - Online CD 4
IOPRP300.IMG - Altered Beast Pal
IOPRP300.IMG - Black
IOPRP260.IMG - Chessmaster
IOPRP255.IMG - clock tower 3
IOPRP300.IMG - driver parallel lines
IOPRP280.IMG - guilty gear xx slash PAL
IOPRP300.IMG - state of emergency 2
IOPRP243.IMG - tokyo extreme racer drift
IOPRP310.IMG - tomb raider legend
IOPRP300.IMG - tourist trophy
IOPRP243.IMG - transformers takati PAL

[EDIT] - all above games work on USB Extreme, some have PAL to NTSC conversions done, chessmaster has 2 IOPRP files, and you have to press the cross buttin while loading or it locks up...It seems like this info might be usefull for making some kind of exploit, but I'm not sure what for.

Hope these help someone...

Did anybody get these games to work:

All 5 WRC games(any region)

Colin McRae Rally 04(PAL Multi5)

Colin McRae Rally 3(NTSC U/C or PAL)

If so, what kind was patching was used(if necessary), and what kind of hard drive was used?

I use a Seagate Barracuda 160Gb 7200rpm, divided in 2 partitions. One for UsbX in FAT32 Format and the 2nd in NTFS format, inside a Canyon 3,5" USB case.

I used the windows client to install the game :)
