Hay nkhan,
How are you putting the games on the hdd, you should use UsB Extreme game installer. google that. Is your hdd formated in Fat or NTFS, i have found NTFS better for me anyway. What games have you tryed? There are answers to some of this back further. See how you go..

Hi, Have you followed this to the letter. www.ps2nfo.com/usbfaq.html
So your cpu see's a new hdd when you formatted and gives it a letter ( like D: drive) try to set a partision of 5gig when formating. First thing read the site and see if you did everything correctly i did and no probs.
Second thing try use the usb game installer windows version ( dos is not any better). What we realy need is for usb extreme to come out with a new version.
See how you go.

If it can't find the file it's probable not even written to the hd or incomplete.

Maybe you made a mistake in formatting the hdd in windows. I think its suppost to be formatted in fat32. If you have the instruction that came with the usb estreme then it should have a walk through that shows you how with windows xp. Dont use DVD Decrypter or iso's... it just makes things even more complicated since you cant even get the games to install yet. Just try to reformatt the hdd to fat32 in the control panel in win xp with only one partition and try again. And also did you download the special file from the usbextreme website that makes installation possible?

my problem seems to be the "missing" ul.cfg file does anyone know how this is created on hdd (i.e. which program creates it) & if theres anyway of finding it/ its just with the wininst prog it says (as soon as i select my hdd) that it cannot open the ul.cfg file & also any ideas what causes this. hdd? hdd external case (although i dont think it is this as i have tried putting hdd back in pc & loading it there but still same prob)

maybe this may help....
i was reading on the "official" usb extreme website and now i can install dvd's in 5 minutes :) cd's are done in 2 minutes. What you do is goto system devices (you are all smart so i dont need to tell you HOW to get there) goto you usb drive and set the properties for performance not quick removal...DON'T YANK THE DRIVE AS SOON AS YER DONE..remove it the right way

it takes me about 30 mins to install a dvd game which isnt bad but 5 mins would be better. But id rather be on the safe side maybe fast writting speeds might screw up something. But about usb extreme... i dont think its that bad like everyone says. I have like 20+ games on mine that are pretty new like the warriors and such. Most of the games that dont work are online-based games that have a problem starting up due to some DNAS stuff i dont really know much about but there are patches that will fix it so it will work with usb extreme... but the online mode will not work. I dont think usbextreme is a waste of monet at all. it saved me alot of money actually.

I have a new PS2 slim. Formating and installing games with the USB Extreme Dos tool works fine. When i plug the usb hd in the ps2 and load the USB Extreme CD, it loads the USB extreme screen but it says usb device not found. I tried with both Maxtor 40 gig and Western Digital 160 gig
Can anyone please let me know why it's not seeing the drive?? The tool formats the drive in Fat32.

If you haven't already done so, you should all check out the following website:
http://www.xafiers-home.com/ps2/
It has a user-defined list of compatible games, a program to list your games in alphabetical order (works very well), and a separate installer program to install from isos, dvds, etc (haven't tried this, I have no problem with the Windows installer). I have a bunch of games on mine that load properly. Although I can't really get CD games to work well (with either SwapMagic or USB Extreme).
Hope this helps.

hey timberman.... it only works with ps2 games. And for mcdaddy6. Try turning on the hard drive after the screen shows up. If it doesnt work try turning off the hard drive then on again. Mine does that too sometimes it doesnt recognize my hdd but just turn it off then on again and it will work. Strange but true.
