I converted an AVI file to MPEG2 using CCE SP.The audio lags
about 30 seconds.Even when I split the A/V tracks and remux.
How can I adjust the audio synch in CCE SP?

I assumed the way to do it was with the timecode setting.
I used different values for the frame# and timecode,but
got no improvement or more lag.Help me please!
I cannot syncronize audio tracks in CCE, but I can teach how to convert the AVI with VBR (variable bit rate) MP3 sound into an AVI with CBR (constant bit rate) MP3 sound, which won't give those 'sync' problems. Read the 'sticky' thread http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/190445 , which is there to help me to save time but no one read it....
The reason why your Files are out of Sync is because you are encodeing a PAL 25fps file to a NTSC 29.976fps file and you Can NOT do this with CCE Because CCE does NOT support Frame Rate conversions....
If you want to Convert PAL to NTSC and use CCE as your encoder then you are going to have to learn how to use AVISynth to do the Frame Rate conversion Or you will have to just use a Different encoder....

The problem was I thought the frame rate choice in cce
was for the output,whereas it's for the source.I used
virtualdubmod with direct stream to change to 29.97 and
then cce to encode in cbr.No problem.But vbr always
seemed to hang so I split up the video and tried.I saved
the first pass a few times but mostly it hung on the vaf
pass or the end of the first pass.I'd get a message about
not able to close file or illegal handle or operation.
Fed up,got a good result anyway,so moving on.Bye for now!
The Frame Rate setting in CCE is Not for the Input Frame Rate it is For the Output Frame Rate But since CCE can Not convert Frame rates (Accept IVTC and 2:3 and 3:2 Pulldown) the Input and Output Frame Rates are the same...
CCE is Best used with a Frameserver Like AVISynth Or Virtual-Dub...
I use CCE many times every day and Have no Problems with it but you do have to Know Exactly what you are Doing because every setting has to be set according to the Type of File you have.....
For Instance if your Source File is a 640+272 AVI File with a 23.976fps Frame rate and you want to Put this File on to DVD the Best way to encode this File would be to Load it into V-Dub and Load up the Resize Filter and Put in 704+320 as the Resize size and put in 720+480 as the "Expand Frame and Letterbox" setting....
The Frameserve the File to CCE and select "23.976fps" as the Frame Rate and then select the "Pulldown" setting and select "2:3".....
In the Quality settings you "MUST" select the "Progressive Frame" setting and set the "Block Scanning Order" to "ZigZag".....
Also use one of the Low bitrate Maxrixes as they will produce better quality at a Lowwer bitrate than the Standard Matrix...Also if your Movie is Letterboxed you should enable the "Blanking" setting and set it so that it Blanks out the Borders when encodeing, This will make the Encodeing that Much More efficient.....
There are also a Bunch of other settings that would need to be adjusted so you can expect a Better result if encodeing this Type of AVI file.....
If your Source File is say a 29.976fps AVI file then you would have to use totally different settings than if encodeing the 23.976fps File and the same if the File was 25fps also the way you would resize the File would totally depend on the resolution of the source file and what DVD Resolution you were encodeing to.....
As you can see to use CCE or any high end encoder for that Matter You need to know everything about your Files and have to know how to treat each type of File so you get the best results and You have to know what each of the settings do and how they relate to your file....
This is what an encoder Like TMPGEnc is Good For poeple who do not know much about digital video because in Wizard Mode it will analize you file for you and set many of the Important settings For you based on the type of File you have and what you are encodeing it to.....
