yeah it is usually when the phone has been blocked because it has been stolen
however it can also happen when someone has tried to unlock the phone 5 times and has used up all your free attempts
to rectify the situation you will need to take to a shop and get it unlocked via a cable solution
what phone is it? whats your imei number? you get that by typing *#06# on the main menu, what network are you on and what country?
sometimes it will still let you unlock it when you put the new sim card in, so all might not be lost

no!!! but they dont block a phone for no reason and the only one i know of is if a bill hasnt been paid like on contract, or if its been stolen
only thing you can do is take it to a mobile shop to get it unlocked, however if they do it wont work on orange anymore
when a phone gets blocked that IMEI gets blocked off the network, but not off every network so you may still be able to use it on o2 for example, my advice to you is get one of those o2 sims with 300 free texts a month for free, orange cant match that! and put one of those in there
if you do let me know coz i have a little cheat to get free messages with them

lol oh yes people will also pay people to unlock phones which i do on here for free!! im just daft and dont want to take peoples money!
but as far as i know that cheat works
o2 have always been crap when it has to come to stuff like that, years ago i can remember only having to switch you o2 phone off while sending a text and it would send for free!

messing around with mobile phones i guess
orange one was changing the message centre number
the new o2 one i saw being sold on ebay so did a search for it, took a while to find because people can be quite secretive if there making money from it and it was readily available
eventually though these things get fixed and then they dont work, like the switching off of the phone and message centre numbers
im on contract now so i tend not to dabble too much

when i mean shop, do not go to any proper shop!!! like orange, t-mobile etc if you do you may as well have binned the phone!
the sort of place i mean is like a small back street computer shop, they usually advertise in the window
or search on google with where you live and phone unlocking

oooh! i looked on the net and someone said that its illegal to do all these restriction codes. you have to change the imei number or something but as you always end up with "code error" i doubt that anyone will get anywhere with it

no its illegal to change the IMEI of a phone, because this would only be done for anything illegal
its not illegal to unlock one, phones used to get blocked when there was a limit on how often you could without topping your phone up
unlocking of phones is fine, changing IMEIs is definately a no no
the reason for code error is because you are only allowed 5 attempts via a code solution then you have to use a cable
