dvd shrink does not give dvd burner drive option when backing up

I have been using DVD shrink for a few months with no problems to both burn from dvd to pc and from pc to dvd. Last night I wanted to burn a dvd from a file on my pc. It opens up the files just fine, but when I hit backup, it only gives two options for backup drive - hard drive and image drive. I am not seing the dvd burner drive (which is external)any more. I am however able to do the reverse - open the dvd in the burner. I am confused. Thanks for your help

I never thought DVD Shrink did that in the first place. I only have 3 options: Hard drive in folder, ISO Image or ISO Image and burn with Decrypter. Have you tried to unplug your drive and plug it back in?

Sorry I was moving so too busy to check the forum in some time.

Well I only get two options- Hard Disk and ISO Image File. No third option.

What program are you using to burn with? Is your burner being recognized by your computer? You can try an uninstall and reinstall of Shrink and see if it picks up your burner.

I am using Nero. I have uninstalled and installed Nero and Shrink many times. I have unplugged and plugged in the external burner many times. Used to work fine until I unplugges the burner from desktop and used it on my laptop (no longer have the laptop) for some time with no problems. I have this problem since I replugges it to desktop. I can read DVDs and copy from my burner but not the other way. Then I tried reinstalling the Burner (HP) software. It works fine then it asks for reboot to complete installation. When the computer restarts the HP message tells me it doesnt see the burner yet I see it in my computer and can also open DVDs. I am really confused

I'd suggest downloading DVD Decrypter (now while you still can) and making the ISO with Shrink, then use decrypter to burn it.

What is the exact model of your burner and what is the current firmware? Go into the Nero InfoTool and find out this information.
