@nohelpme

Prodisc is considered second class media

http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm

and I have used Fuji that are Prodisc with no problem and the quality has been very good.

look, put it this way, i'm sat here, trying to copy Shrek and Shrek 2 from Bulkpaq disks - burnt perfectly fine not so many months ago, and i'm having CRC errors trying to copy/paste the contents of these CRAP discs to my hard drive, i'm trying to slowly go thru all the many 100s of CRAP BULKPAQ discs for the very reason of transferring them to trusted Verbatim, but i'm probably gonna give up after a few days and torch the lot and rip from the originals again. What a waste of my time!

NO. Not all of them. I have some that are a year old that are ok. I would say 30-40% died in one year. They start magically getting crc errors like out of the blue. Some of them i never even watched or touched besides the inital burn. It is really sporadic. They are not reliable at all.

I go so crazy on this topic becuase i use to an as*hole noob who use to say that cheap media is just as good. I can't tell you how much money I have wasted on bad media...just to show everyone an example...most dvd's that are made by the pro's like columbia pictures who make disks you buy in the store they use a version of taiyo yuden. You think they are going to waste millions of billions on cmc??? come on now

sorry, i just mean copy/paste in Windows Explorer as the copies don't need ripping or encoding or whatever it's called as the protection has already been removed.

EDIT- DAMN!, that's both Shrek discs that have CRC errors. I may save all these Bulkpaq discs up for when the weather is colder, put them in the woodburner which i think gets as hot as 500C as that's the only BURNING these discs are any good at/for.

that's right - FAKE TY's, but the reason i go on about them is to illustrate how bad media is bad, it's not just CMC. You see i lose count of how many posts i reply to nearly every night where bad media is one of the main causes. I think the longest i've gone (on afterdawn) without seeing/replying to bad media posts, is 4days, maybe 5 at a push
