I don't believe you can burn an ISO image over a DL disc. An ISO Image cannot be split as VOB files can - you'll most likely waste another disc.

8.5 Gig ISO images can be burned by DVD Decrypter & Nero6. Your Authering software would have asked (or automatically arranged) the layer break for you when creating the image. Don't ask me how the burning software knows where to find this from one single 8gig image file, but it does. I would also have expected two 4gig images.

I just created a whole pile of DL DvD's for about 20 friends who all wanted copies.

I created the DL image with Adobe Encore 5 and burned with DVD Decrypter but found that only 60% of the DvD players could play it.
My version of Encore is not able to do the DL burning itself hence the need for a 3rd party burning software.

The Next disc I saved "to folder" in Adobe Encore and copied the VOB's to Nero6 and created & burned the DL DvD from there. I had a 95% success rate this time. Only one guys Sansui player could not read the disc.

(OK this was only on about 20 different DvD players of friends, but all of various models and random ages)

The latest Nero does some compatibility enhancement as it's writing the leadout on the 2nd layer. Not sure what exactly tho but it works.

Or could it be that Nero creates the AUDIO folder which was missing in the image I burned with Decrypter?? - media too expensive to waste 20 discs on that experiment to find out!

I never had a single coaster from either DVD Decrypter or the Nero method BTW. Media was DL Verbatim 2.4x +R. Burner was LG GSA-4163B
Image file was almost the whole disc - 8.1Gig

Thanks,

Now we know. Though I've done about 40 DL discs I haven't tried to burn a large ISO. I will give it a shot now that I know it can be done. As you say, at $5.00 a throw, one doesn't experiment too much. It would be super iffin they made a DL / RW media, then we could practice all kinds of things.

Thed only thing I've found out so far is, do not buy Memorex DL discs. Out of a pack of 5, I had 3 "Duds". It certainly teaches one a lesson when you watch $15.00 go right down the crapper.

Burn on, . . . . .
