No, you have to have a thermal printer for these. I don't think the inkjet ink will adhere to this surface. Personally, I use CD Stomper labels. You will get mixed opinions regarding adhesive labels, but I always use the applicator, and I have had NO problems! I have about 30 burns thus far (still a newbie).

U kinda gotta wait till u get to 6 or 700 when the glue gets really slimmy & the edges start curling up & the DVD gets stuck in your DVD player..Then u gotta pry open the tray & maybe break the front off..or you take the player apart real carful & figure our that u have to open the tray anyway..No Big Deal
But then u decide I'd better take these off the rest of my DVD's,so this does'nt happen again..Hmmm how do I get them off!! I know a blow dryer..heat & peal..well there u go 700 label..shit $.20 apiece $35.00..Ink $80.00

i just use a fine tip sharpie and try to keep the title to within a 3 inch x 3 inch box so it doesn't come off on the disc holder if they are in a regular 200 count cd/dvd case for a while.
what are the pros and cons for not keeping each dvd in its own case, but putting all backups in a 200 dvd holder? (cause that's what i'm currently doing)

i have no choice but to keep mine in 240 capacity folders. they're only cheapy ones but are nice quality. bloody heavy so i just make sure to stand them edgeways up so there's no weight on any of the discs. I think they'ell be just fine like that long term, i'm just careful taking them out/putting them back in so as not to scratch them as dvd's seem to scratch far too easily for my liking

i'm w/ creaky on this one..i do the same w/ my backups too~ put them neatly and carefully into a 232 dvd binder/folder...dunno why my capacity is somewhat smaller, but, that's what i have..im a sharpie guy too, i just write it on the top of the discs and slip them into the sleeve and upright it goes...:)

I too am using the 240 capsicty binder and like them very well. The look good and do not take up that much space, unlike all the jewel cases. I like the idea of just flipping through the pages. Am also glad that Sharpie has so many different colors available, can now color code the titles :~)

From article at http://www.cdfreaks.com
Quote:
Start hoarding media now! Oil forces 10% DVD±R price rise
Posted by Dan Bell on 16 June 2005 - 14:39 - Source: The Channel Register

Here we have a short article over at the Channel Register, that says media prices are going up and oil is to blame. Just like everything it seems, our beloved media has close ties to the petroleum that is getting harder to find these days or at least is getting harder to buy! What happened to those corn oil discs?

At issue is the cost of optical-grade polycarbonate, the material used to protect the data-storage layers within DVD+R and DVD-R discs. The material's average price dropped to around $3.2 per kg back in April, DigiTimes notes, but now prices are rising again, reaching the previous record-high, $3.5 per kg, as crude prices have escalated. This year has seen already seen oil prices reach record highs.

That is forcing disc makers to up their own prices, with Taiwanese manufacturers now planning increases of around ten per cent during Q3, local sources claim, according to the report. Last year, aggressive competition forced them to absorbed a 20 per cent increase in material costs, again driven by rising oil prices.

You can check out the rest of this news over at the Reg. Although 10% is not a great leap in price, it is important to note that oil is so much a part of our lives. I often marvel at the fact, that 100 years ago, there was not even a single car, or at least very few, and now look at how our world and lives have changed! Sure it's better than horses and the mess they leave I guess, but we need to start seeing other alternatives and get this monkey off our back before it is too late. Kudos to Sanyo for the corn oil disc idea, we need more such innovation. Sanyo can make a 4.7 inch disc with just 85 corn kernels, so they figure an ear of corn can produce enough polymer for aproximately ten discs!

whew, i was afraid everyone but me was buying bulk empty jewel case thingies to best protect them.
i found a cd holder from a year or so ago that i had forgotten about, and the cover art from the cds had kinda stuck to the plastic sleeves. i try to write the titles now so they won't be covered by the sleeve.

Is this a loooong running sell or what? They are still on sale after like 3 weeks. Is it a mess up because depending on what link you click on in this thread they are either $61 or $34.

@jasper

amazon ALWAYS changes their prices unexpectedly, their "sales" are not really sales..they just sell at higher price when the demand is high...and lower the price if the demand is not so high. :)

secondly, i believe the 8x Verbs in the DVD-R format are like $60+, while the 8x Verbs DVD+R format is still around $35~ supply and demand at work once again~
