dvdShrink wont Encode Punisher so i used dvd dycrypter which worked. now i need to shrink and dvd shrink still wont encode the vob files dycrypter created. i get this error "programing error - exception occured"

this only happens with this movie, others still work fine in dvd shrink. half the time dvd shrink has to shut down and window xp asks if i want to send in info on error.

so how do i get the vob files onto a dvd? they are too big and need to be shrunk

if you're saying the movie is now on your hard drive, try vobblanker (free). select your directory that you decrypted to, as the input, point the output somewhere and start. Hopefully that should chomp thru the files and DVD Shrink should work as normal.

I never had a problem backing up Punisher with Shrink and Decrypter. Perhaps the DVD is scratched or dirty. Shrink seems to be less tolerant on errors then Decrypter.

i didn't have a problem with Punisher either, but vobblanker is one thing that's worked for me in various films

Nice one!

i had a problem with an copy of a movie i acquired from a boot sale some months back. Shrink and Decrypter balked at the folder structure or something and i came across vobblanker. Used it a few times for similar problems but it's one of those things i never bothered to look into enough to know how or why it works as am just glad it works so i recommend it on as it's a free download and it does seems to help ppl from time to time.

I did Punisher, but I may have used AnyDVD. If not, I used Decrypter, possibly a combo of the 2. I rip HD files with DVDD and AnyDVD is nice for setting up the DVD so the trailers and junk are eliminated and the disc starts on the menu (no waiting). AnyDVD has a 3 week trial, http://www.slysoft.com , if you want to give it a try. It works well with apps like Shrink and XCopy that have obsolete rippers.
