I have been using DVD Shrink with very good results. I have burned movie discs with length of one hr and 43 minutes. I recently tried to burn a movie that DVD Shrink could not get through due to encrytion. I downloaded DVD Decrypter and after downloading 6 pages of instructions and some advice from some locals I started to decrypt my hung up movie. It seemed to be going great, my movie is 108 minutes long well within the required 4.36 GB. For some reason within one of the boxes, it states that I have disc size of 7,000,000,000. bytes??? This makes my entry invalid when it's not even close? It still decrypted 11 items. Upon reaching the page where "Data Type", Write Mode, and Write Speed are shown in the downloaded 6 pages, None of these items were even shown - they were not thee.... I don't know why this page wasn't there unless there is an upgrade that I don't have? Still can't download that movie???
Any suggestions???? Ron

Wow, I think you are putting yourself through more than you have to. Check out the guides in my sig, they should help get you squared away. Just so you know, there is no direct correlation between length of film and file size on disc when it comes to commercial DVDs. I've had movies that were 2 and a half hours long under 5GB but movies under an hour and a half ran over 8GB.

Thanks "Squizzle". Yea I guess I'm doing some "Different things. Squizzle, Everyone on the forum says that "DVD Shrink" does not burn? I currently have "nero" and just two days past had to send out my "Plextor ConvertX PX-M402U" out for repair. So, I've been encoding and burning ALL under the "DVD Shrink" format - don't know how, it just does it... I have successfully burned at least 25 discs for backup. It's just this one movie that has stopped my success run. You say there is no length-size correlation. Is it possible to burn a 3 hr movie on a 4.7 DVD? Just asking, I don't know.
You mentioned your "guides in your SIG" Where can I find them so I download them? Yea, I'm a "Newbie" Thanks a ton for your kind and prompt reply. Ron

DVD Shrink itself does not burn, but it can be setup to open a burning program and start it up, so I guess you could say it will burn, although that's not entirely true. Does that make sense? I hope so.
The program that you're using to burn is most likely Nero.

@gurnard - lol. i've just admitted defeat and stepped back from that thread as the first fight was smacked down by me but it didn't dissuade the second one.
@ronnies - here's an important first step for Shrink -
- makes sure no movie goes above 4300MB, thus avoiding the outside edge of discs..

Thank you Squizzle and Creaky for your sound advice. Thanks also for the two instruction items, I have downloaded them and they are very well written... I will prod ahead and hopefully succeed. If I have problems ( which I'm confident that I will ) I will give you a shout.
Thanks again for your great assistance. Ron

On my new Gateway, DVD Shrink does burn, and very well. It also decrypts, and does everything automatically, so even a totally non-geek like me can copy movies with no pain.
I guess the Decryptor is built into the Shrink? It seems to work that way. I never have to use Nero. Just pop in a movie, tell Shrink to make a Back-up, and the rest is pretty much automatic, except when the drwaer pops open and it wants a blank disc.
"User friendly" indeed!

Hello OZ132home
Just the way that you depicted your DVD Shrink relative to burning and decrypting is just the way my unit functions. I tried using "Decrypter" and just got fouled up when the pictures that were supposed to be there - weren't there ( I was following a guide )???
SO - So far so good for us.....
Take care Ron
