Thats another thing I failed to mention....no burning speed adjustment.
You can rip to your HDD instead, and then use the burning program of your choice.I forgot about the burning speed part, because all I use is 4x media. ;)

just a thought on the Intervideo copy3's speed adjustment issue, can't it be solved by using 2.4x or 4x disc? that is what i do and it seems to burn much slower.

Nero Recode2 or Shrink using deep analysis and AEC/ fabdecrypter or anydvd running in the background/ IMGBurn to burn/main movie only mode= perfect.

Some firmware will enable your burner to burn media faster than the speed its rated.

Just to throw my preference out there I like CopytoDVD by VSO, it does have burn speed adjustment, but no editing capabilities. So I usually just edit with CloneDVD but use CopytoDVD to burn. The quality is excellent, and the program can be used for a number of other things such as burning CD's. It also integrates with Shrink so all you have to do is pick burn iso with CopytoDVD.

good point earniebear, that's another way i control the speed, instead of using IC3 to burn, i use copy2dvd which allows you to control the speed.

@elizerroj,it depends on your media and your burner. For instance I have some Fuji's 8x, that I use on rare occasions, and they burn at 12x.

Plextor will allow you to burn faster than the disk states, also my Hp640c will in some cases depending on the media, usually TY and Verbatim. Even my old NEC1300a will which usually only burns at 4x will burn TY and Verbs faster.

@JD

I bought the Plex about 2 months ago and like AnyDVD it is the best money I spent. I know they are more expensive, but damn they are good. Makes my other burners cry.

Well I bought the external 716UF, so it was 189.00 at BestBuy, but it was my treat to myself. I have had my NEC1300a USB for 2 1/2 years and figure it was getting up there and wanted a replacement that would give me the exact same good quality, the Plexie really delivers.

The internal 716a is much cheaper in this case because it is an external, you are paying for the enclosure, and I probably could have gotten cheaper online. You can get the internal at newegg for 92.99.

Santa is always the best supplier, it is all personal preference anyway. I still love my old NEC it was my first burner but now it is a senior citizen and needs to be babied, so I just let the younger model do the hard work.

ok this is my preferred method for backing up a 8.5gb dvd.
software used.
latest version of Nero.
DVD region+css free.

i use ritek go5 8x disks and i burn at 12x with my pioneer 108.
just enable DVD region+css free, then use Nero recode.

this method will back a dvd of about 8.5gb in about 20-25mins.
then about 5 mins to burn.oh final size of the DVD will be 4.5gb.

this method is idiot proof, hence why i use it.

well Jim..... that answers my question why my burner can burn Taiyo Yuden DVD+R 8Xs at 16X! I use CopytoDVD to burn most of the time and the average speed goes to 10X but it's peak is 13.5X on those 8X TYs.

Hi IHoe,

You don't have any playback problems burning at 16x ?

I know Taiyo Yuden are good media, but would think that's pussing it a little not ? :)

Good for you if you are not having problems...

I still have several cheap media to burn and I have some Ridata 4x, I burn everything at 2x. Takes a little longer, but hey I'm 100% with the results !!!

Cougar..... I know all the warning.... everyone's told me...... I did turn it down but I happened to burn at least 20 backups WITH NO PROBLEMS AT ALL at 16x. Only did that with TYs though! I now burn at 8x still no probs with TYs DVD+R 8x. I don't know what to tell everyone but it works for me! So, without the burn speed adjustment on DVDCopy3 I will still get great results! And I do love that program..... I might just buy it whent the trial period runs out!

2 cents worth, I have a 530a sony external, a 108 pioneer in an external enclosure, and a cheapie Pacific Digital generic 16x internal. They all burn a solid 4x with just about any media. The 108 will burn 8x most of the time, and the Generic will burn 12x all the time with ty media. By the way, if you happen to live in the southwest US, Frys electronics has a 12x Plextor serial for 49.00. I picked it up, but have to get a serial ata card before I install. Happy Birthday, USA.

IHoe,

If you want to control the burn speed with DVDCopy3 simply make an empty folder on your hdd and select it as the target then after DVDC3 is done encoding burn the video folder with Nero at whatever speed you want.
