I'm not quite sure how this happened or if someone was messing with my settings, but where DvD shrink used to automatically start to burn after backing up (not sure which software it used; I have both Decrypter and Nero), now it says it's "ready to burn when appropriate burning software is installed."

I've tried a bunch of different things, but if it's not already obvious, I'm fairly inexperienced and clueless with this kind of thing and I could really use some help if someone else has encountered this problem.

A friend suggested I simply rip the disc, open "Nero Burning Rom," select "DvD Video," drop the contents of the ripped disc into the VIDEO_TS folder, and burn. That doesn't work because for some reason, Nero Burning Rom doesn't recognize the contents of the VIDEO_TS folder. I can open it myself and see that there are files in there, but when I open it with Nero, it appears empty.

What I'd really like to know is how to get it to do what it used to; interact with the software on it's own and burn automatically when I put the DVD-R in. Failing that, I'd like to know how I can do it myself.

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

After you click the Backup button a window pops up and asks what you would like to do with the output, usually giving you a choice of DVD files in a hard disc folder, ISO image, ISO image and burn with DVD Decrypter (if that's installed) or it should say your burner drive if you have Nero installed, and possibly some other options. If you have Nero Burning ROM installed and your burner isn't showing up as an option, go into the settings of Shrink and make sure the Enable burning with Nero option is checked.

I can add a bit to this little mystery, if only someone can offer some more insight?? I am also having the same problems with Shrink not auto burning, and yes I have my preferences set to Nero as suggested above. this is what I have done to date and the result is always the same. I have uninstalled Shrink, reinstalled and it works fine the first time you backup and burn. On the second go, it backsup only!! When I open reauthor, open C drive I find Shrink has created a folder for my first project, and in it goes any subsequent back ups!!!!!!I bet if you're having the same problem just look in C drive and the previous movie name will be there all the TS files inclusive. When you Ask Nero to burn from THESE it recognises it no problem. Why is this so?? can anyone enlighten me?? The only other thing that works for me is to delete all previous movie files before backing up another one and this sometimes sends it through to auto burn. Any help would be great
thanks

you can change the folder in which it dumps your files. When you click backup if you have hard disc folder selected, underneath it is where you select the folder in which to put the files. I didn't have the autoburn option when using an OEM of Nero Express. If you have Decrypter installed that will autoburn though.
