I just ripped to .iso for the first time, but when i burn, what do i do with this mds file, do i select that to burn with dvd decrypter, or do i select the iso?

MDS is a format most commenly used by Alcohol %120. Is the MDS about 1kb in size if so yes pick the MDS.
In reality it should not matter but meh. I like doing things my way.

it's about 8kb, whats the diff between the mds and the iso?

Umm really basic i guess i could say
.mds is "how" to burn it.
.iso is the data.
The reason i said it often does not matter becuase often there is no hard core set of instuctions. Its most often just says to burn the .iso found here.

MDS = Google
ISO = Content on the internet
Google will get you to the correct content.

Use the MDS file. Always.
When you rip a DVD using the "ISO Mode" in DVDDecrypter, it creates one huge file (which is essentially a disc image), and a second very small file which will have an "MDS" extension. That very small MDS file contains crucial information about the main file, which DVDDecrypter needs in order to burn the image back to a blank DVD. For example, on a dual layer disc, it contains the information regarding where the layer break should occur.
If you need to use DVDDecrypter to burn that ISO image back to a blank DVD, you should always select the "MDS" file. The latest version of DVDDecrypter will actually stop you if you try to select anything else, if I recall.

little good that mds did, movie froze about an hour in (verbatim dl 2.4x) i'm guessin that is where the layer changes? Whats up with this, i ripped to comp in iso mode with decrypter then burned the mds at 2.4x, can anyone show me the error of my ways?

if you d/l dvd shrink..it won't cost you so much it will shrink the movie down to size of a dvd-5...(they are extremely cheaper than buying the dual layer disc)...
this is my setup and i have had no problems with them, might want to give them a try...all freeware and found at this site
1)dvd shrink...to shrink the movie down..
2)Nero (burning rom)...to actually burn the movie..
3)DVD43 to actually take the css protection off..
once all of these are installed:
Open dvd shrink...go to the button that says open disc..this should bring up the drive that you have the dvd in...click on ok...it should go to a window that does an analysis of the movie..once that is done it will show a bunch of options...window on the left should show "the name of the movie", below it "main movie" and few other options...the window on the left should have all the audio options...select what you want from the window on the left(main movie only encodes the actual movie...if you select the top option(name of the movie) from that list it will give you an exact copy of the movie, menus and all)...click on "backup"...this will bring up a window that should say "backup target" and it will show the drive that you want to burn with, i.e. e:\ or g:\....and below that it should show you a line that says C:\"name of the movie"...click on ok...this will begin to encode the movie onto your hard drive...and automatically burn the disc to the target drive you selected...good luck ;)

ya i know, but i want it on dl because it's like 70% quality re-authored without any of the foreign sound or anything. So do you got any ideas about the problem i'm havin?

hostage, tried reauthoring so it was just the movie itself but that was on a dl disc on another brand and also didnt work, i dont want to try that yet on my new media(because they are expensive)

truthfully man..there's no quality loss if you use DVD-5..on the method i showed...and it's cheaper...i've never put movies on DVD-9 for that reason..really i've only seen people use the dl disc for games...and you won't have to reauthor the movie..and you can pick whether you want just the movie or an exact duplicate...hey tell me how the movie is i was wanting to buy that one

Heh, you must not have high definition then, because there is a noticably crappier difference at 80% even. BTW, movie was great until i hit that halfway mark, argghhh...

How's it going bro..? Nice seeing you here man. I think Simpsim1 and L-Burna is making some good progress on GT4 so far. Hopefully they'll somehow manage to get it going for a 100% successful soon. Anyways, I agree with you here.

Mr. "evnflow" is right. With DVD Shrink, you can choose to do a "re-author mode" with the "main title" on any DVD5 and take out all the junks that you don't neccessary needed and the quality will be as good as the original. In addition about "High Definition" - I have an 55" Widescreen SONY HDTV with Hi Scan 1080 and DRC Multi-Function, and when I do "re-author" on the main movie only using DVD Shrink without any extras or foreign subtitles -- the picture quality is as sharp and great as the original. To tell you the truth, I can't even tell any differences at all.

hey man nice to see you here again...i'm stuck at work right now..and i have to sneak onto the computer..lol..i'm going to have to swing over to the new thread to check it out...and look at the core file when i get home..i agree with you on the protection of that file....oohh yeah can i borrow your tv for a few days..lol

@alkohol: man, when i just burn the movie by itself, usually i can get it 100% quality on a DVD5 but every once and a while the movie is larger and i can only get about 80%, the quality is somewhat reduced when i watch on my tv, it gets a little bit of pixelation (not my media, verbatim 16x at 8x, with good dvdinfo results) which can be kind of annoying. There may be a difference though, are you using dvi, or are you using component hookups, because i am using dvi and if there is any little thing wrong you can see it. But anyways, maybe its just that i am really picky or something, i dunno, but its alright with me burnin to DL :).
@evnflow: burned it again, it worked, dunno wuts up, i guess verbatim dl isnt as good as ppl say it is.

hey i'm glad to hear you got it going...so is the movie any good...what progs were you using to burn your movies to dvd-5?(i know you burned it too dvd-9, for this i am asking about your previous ventures)

Haha lmao, problem not fixed, skips like crazy making it unwatchable toward the end, the thing that rly pisses me off is that i cant jsut burn it at 1x, everything would be just fine if i could burn it at 1x, lol. W/e gonna put it on 2 dvd-5's, forgot about that option.

hey i was just thinking...have you tried watching it on your computer to see if it skipping? if it isn't skipping(on the comp) it might be the media...but aren't you using verbatim dvd-5's?...if it is skipping then it might be the disc..scratched or smudged?...there have been a few instances where the pressing is bad...what's the lowest speed that you are burning at?you said you tried just doing the main movie on dvd-5, right? how big of a t.v. are you watching this on? i have a 27" Phillips, that i watch mine on and i haven't had any trouble with the picture...this has got me a lil' frustrated..hhhmmmm must sit and meditate..lol ;)
P.S. i forgot to ask, what are options you have checked and unchecked in dvd shrink?(i.e. deep analysis, how big the movie is set to write too 4446mb)the green bar at the top of dvd shrink, is it full green or is there some red in there?
