what type of TY were you using (that you puchased in bulk) ?

4x DVD-R?

8x DVD-R?

8x DVD+R?

perhaps we could set something up via PM attar...just to convince you that TY is a great quality blank dvd~ no, i don't work for them or anything like that...but, i've burned thousands of TYs and can personally attest to the quality of them...i can send you a few discs that i use personally as i trust TY quality with my most important backups :) let me know via PM

Re the bulk pack TY, they are 4X.

If you go to the link below, you can see a TY and a Verb which I scanned.

I have had no problem burning this media. It was only when I happened to click on one of the forum links that I learned what scanning the media puports to tell us and although it's not shown in this example, the Optodisc (+R OPTODISC0R4) showed much lower numbers.

gotcha attar, that was my mistake as i misunderstood your post~ :) i guess you can burn them just fine, it's due to the scans that made you think twice about the quality... :(

nevertheless, those errors are WAYYY too high for TY, must of gotten a bad batch or at least a "not so good one" :(

good luck w/ your other discs in the future, hope they prove to be "better" than the scans in your link~ :)

I got my DVD-R ty's from blankmedia.ca. There are 8X and they are working awsome. Burnt 10 or so now with no problems. They can be burnt upto 16X with my plextor 716A although I only did that for experiment purposes. I would guess you got a bad batch attar which blankmedia will probably take care of. Or maybe look into a firmware update on your burner. Is there another burner you could try, like kivory said it could be another issue. Good Luck

@Khameleo

As to the burner issue,Hmm ;)
I think a defective burner should have an equal effect on mediocre (optodisc) as well as first-rate (TY) media.
The scans are consistently poor on the TY product.

Anyhoo the burner firmware is up to date and as noted previously there have been no aborted burn sessions attributable to anything other than the occasional operator error.

Also re the 'bad batch' theory, the hub rings on these discs are in two ranges and both ranges have equally miserable scans.

If the hub numbers reflect batch numbers of dye then I think what I got were defective discs.

If the hub numbers indicate the actual production runs of the discs, then I presume that the dye is defective.

attar I would still be interest to see what kinda scans you would get if the media was used on another burner. I had a defective burner (some no name el cheapo burner) It worked fine on a very select batch of dvds others weres useless. I thought it was the media for the longest time. When i upgraded my burner the problem media worked great. So if you know someone with a burner it would be worth a shot to check it out. Plextor for example only recommends brands they have optimized for there firmware and burner. Just my 2 cents
